Music a Teen will Travel the World to Hear Brian Tyler Live: Film Music for Stars, Cars & Superheroes

092915_VANCOUVER_PHOTOGRAPHER_000GG_1024Vancouver Sixteen year old musician Logan Jones is on his way to London UK this weekend to hear composer Brian Tyler conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra on May 7th

Most parents would never expect their teen to fly across the world to go to a Symphony Music Concert but that is exactly what 16 year old Logan Jones is doing this weekend. Logan is flying from Vancouver Canada to London UK to hear the musician he most admires, “Brian Tyler Live: Film Music for Stars, Cars and Superheroes.” Brian will conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra on Saturday 7 May 2016, 7.30pm Royal Festival Hall in London England.

Interestingly, most teens know and love the music that he is going to catch live – they just don’t know it! Brian Tyler’s films have grossed $ 9.5 billion worldwide making him one of the most recognised and exciting film composers working today. Brian’s music is embedded in feature films including “Furious, “ “Thor,” “Avengers” and “Now You See Me” and the recent feature “Criminal.” Without knowing it, most of us have been swept along the emotional tides of Brian Tyler’s incredible music more than once.

Logan Jones is a musician and composer who can’t wait to hear some of his favorite music live. Logan says, “Teens should be super interested in this music – they love it in the movies they just don’t recognize it yet.”

12970907_1050165701723573_5366515262983506337_oLogan points outs that Brian Tyler is a rock drummer and this feel of energy and rhythm that inspires him.  As the promotion for the concert states: “Step into the fantastical world of superhuman and action adventure with Hollywood composer/conductor Brian Tyler, for an evening of unforgettable film scores from some of the world’s biggest box office movies of all time. Experience the exciting music from Tyler’s most famous scores spanning over 70 films, including the Marvel films, the Fast and Furious films, Star Trek: Enterprise, fan favourites including Children of Dune and game score franchises such as Far Cry, alongside classic film scores that have influenced Tyler.”

Logan says that “Other teenagers should come and experience a full orchestra playing huge music with a rocking rhythm – like in the theater except better, …rock Drums make a good sound – imagine a drum five times the size and instead of a band of five or a backing track of Pop – 100 instruments. I think kids should come an experience it – live, like the movies but better, I am super excited“

Logan is an unusual teen older than his years. A composer himself with his second Album Platinum Grooves on iTunes, Logan sincerely believes that the concert at the Royal Festival Hall on May 7th is a great way for teens and their parents to have a great night out an experience symphony music that all have enjoyed together.  He hopes that the concert will get more teens to appreciate symphony music.

Sixteen-year-old Vancouver Musician/Composer Logan Jones has garnered attention and is composing themes for several television series since the release of his second album “Platinum Grooves”

Logan will meet composer Brian Tyler back stage at his concert with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London England on May 7th

092915_VANCOUVER_PHOTOGRAPHER_000II_1024Sixteen-year old Logan Jones, an innovative, highly creative, and prolific composer who recently released his second album “Platinum Grooves,” is catching the attention of television productions and music reviewers. Logan is ready to take his music to new heights.

In a recent article feature in 24hrs Vancouver by music reviewer Joe Leary “Teen writing the soundtrack of his life” Leary say “At 16, Vancouver’s Logan Jones is the youngest artist to be featured in this column. A multi-instrumentalist, he’s already built a sizeable library of music as he pursues film — and already has a television soundtrack in the works”.

http://vancouver.24hrs.ca/2016/03/31/teen-writing-the-soundtrack-of-his-life

Catching the attention of television producers/hosts Logan is currently working on the theme music for two television series “BC Brew on Tap” and “Get Cooking with the Stars.”

Logan’s interest in soundtracks is inspired by musician Brian Tyler, who has composed music for feature films including “Iron Man 3,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Furious 7.” Since the article Brian Tyler has posted Logan’s story to his audience. Logan will meet Brian in London, England backstage after his concert conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra on May 7th. Logan hopes to have a career like Brian one day.

Grammy-nominated Nashville’s songwriter Carey Ott says of Logan “He is tapping the pure well of creativity”. Logan’s music has also been described as cross genre, pop music accessible and undeniably interesting.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 4.58.32 PM“Platinum Grooves” was forged on the site of a platinum mine in construction with a string quartet during one of Logan’s many trips to South Africa. He also worked with Free State University teacher/producer John Smit to explore African based rhythms to help add new dimensions to his music.

“Platinum Grooves” includes over 70 minutes of music composed by Logan. The sounds include keyboard, percussions, and chords that cross-different genres in a jazz, funk and rock guitar. String quartets can also be found seamlessly knitted into some of the tracks. Each layer of music has been added with a distinct purpose. Logan’s arrangement of sounds is dazzling in profound and affecting ways.

Platinum Grooves is an album of music that reflects Logan’s unique style, creativity and journey. In this album, the tracks “6474” and “Twenty Three” are named after their complex time signatures while “Fight to be Free” gives off a struggling effect. Its theme has connections to Logan’s travel to South Africa and the history of that country. The feel of David Gilmour’s legendary guitar style was Logan’s guitar inspiration for his track “High School Spy”. The dimension of a classically trained string quartet was added to the Platinum Grooves 5-9 sessions at the 1915 building of Soundsphere Studios in Bloemfontein, South Africa. In Platinum Groove 9 the sounds of hammering metal and vehicles gives ethos to the mine building in Africa.

Logan’s love for music started at the age of 3 with the French horn as his first instrument. He started playing it by lying on the carpet and playing it sideways. That was enough to fire his passion for music and to take music onto a whole new level in his own signature way. He developed a multifaceted interest in music that has brought him from playing guitar, drums and keyboard to writing and composing his own. Logan is definitely talented, highly creative, deeply passionate, and wise beyond his years.

Logan has worked with musicians from Nashville, London, Vancouver, Toronto, Paris, to South Africa. He has recorded at the famous Fader Mountain (Little Mountain Sound Vancouver) where the greats from Aerosmith to Hedley and Rage Against the Machine have recorded. Logan has also worked with Grammy nominated songwriter Carey Ott. Logan’s inspirations for his music come from rhythms and harmonies of all music types across continents and decades. Music heroes whose work has influenced Logan’s style are Mark Knopfler, Herbie Hancock, Pink Floyd, Sting in addition to the movie music of Brian Tyler. Logan’s first album “Believe” produced by Dunbar Underground Studios was released in 2014 and can be purchased on iTunes. Famous music producer Garth “GGGarth” Richardson at one of Logan’s gigs said, “I can hear his influences and I can hear him inventing for himself many things that have come before”.

Logan takes his inspiration from many experiences. He recently travelled to Honduras for a week in the jungle and a week of diving. Throughout the week, Logan completed underwater survey work and had 9 dives in total, each one at a different site, providing a great variety of coral to explore and new marine life sightings. The trip was a paradise for inspiration – with a waterfall showers and beautifully rich wildlife.

Logan lives in Vancouver, BC and looks forward to more opportunities to write for film, television and video games. Logan composes his music at Dunbar Underground Studios – but also leaves time just to write for fun.

DONNA LEWIS RETURNS WITH BRAND NEW DAY, FEATURING DAVID KING, REID ANDERSON AND ETHAN IVERSON

Platinum Singer-Songwriter Reimagines Her Own Material and Songs by David Bowie, Neil Young, Damian Rice, Gnarls Barkley, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chocolate Genius,Burt Bacharach and Harry Nilsson

Donna Lewis will be performing at The Falcon in Marlboro, New York on March 26 and
at Turning Point in Piermont, New York on March 27

The Welsh-born singer Donna Lewis is one of those rare artists whose immense success on the pop radio charts disguises an exceptional and serious musicianship and breadth of repertoire. Lewis’ new album, Brand New Day, reveals the range of her artistry, and may surprise listeners who know her only for her pop hits “I Love You Always Forever,” “At The Beginning,” “I Could Be The One” and “Love Him.” Produced and arranged by Lewis’ longtime friend David Torn, the genre-busting composer and producer, Brand New Day is an intoxicating set of jazz-inflected covers and Lewis originals in which she is joined by the eminent progressive jazz musicians Ethan Iverson (piano), Reid Anderson (bass) and Dave King (drums). Palmetto releases the album March 10, 2015.

With her distinctive, breathy voice and unique phrasing, Lewis brings a fresh immediacy to the covers on Brand New Day, including David Bowie‘s infrequently heard “Bring Me the Disco King,” Neil Young‘s “Helpless,” Damien Rice‘s “Amie,” and Chocolate Genius‘ “My Mom,” among others. The album also features two new Lewis originals, “Sleep” and “Brand New Day,” as well as a powerful remake of “I Love You Always Forever.”

For an artist used to the do-and-do-again perfectionism of pop music recording sessions, returning to the improvisational nature of jazz was an exciting prospect. It took nerve for Lewis to take on songs so deeply etched in the pop consciousness in such a stripped-down setting, but she recorded most of them in a single take. As a result, the record has live, organic, nearly ambient feel.

The Promotion People - Donna

“I Love You Always Forever” was such a hit for Lewis that, for many listeners, it will always be the thing for which she is remembered. Atlantic Records Chairman Doug Morris had been so enamored with the demo for that song that he flew Lewis to New York to meet him and perform her material, and offered her a deal on the spot. It became the first song ever to get a million spins on American radio and the third best-selling song in the history of Atlantic Records. The record also was an international sensation, topping charts all over the world. Lewis’ second album for the label, Blue Planet (1998), spawned two hits: “Love Him,” which topped the Billboard Dance charts, and “I Could Be the One.”

She soon began to reveal other dimensions of her creativity. While on hiatus to start a family, she left her mark on such projects as The Art of Noise’s The Seduction of Claude Debussy. She began her longtime collaboration with David Torn, a guitarist and studio wizard known for his film scores including Friday Night Lights, The Order and Lars and the Real Girl, as well as for his work with rock legends such as David Bowie and Jeff Beck. In 2001, five electronically textured songs Torn and Lewis wrote and recorded for the Chute project were among the most requested on Los Angeles’ KCRW for three weeks running. She released the acoustic Be Still in 2002 and the high-energy In the Pink in 2008.

Still, the aptly titled Brand New Day is both a striking departure from anything she has done before, and the fullest realization of qualities that have always set her apart. As Time Out NY said before a recent NYC performance, “If you really listened past the earworm chorus and bubbly beat of Lewis’s debut hits, you quickly sensed that she was no flash in the pan. The classically trained…Lewis had a breathy coo that could recall Kate Bush, and used it with a flexibility that few pop princesses could muster.”

Whatever the occasion, whatever the hardships, there was the music.” – Denis Simpson, founding member of Rooted Theatre

“Welcome Back To Harlem: A Hellfighter’s Story” is set against the backdrop of the dynamic Harlem Renaissance art scene and offers its audience live music, singing, dancing and poetry. The compelling play was written by up-and-coming Vancouver writer Tito Kamel, who was inspired by his research into the story of the 369th Infantry Regiment, nicknamed the Harlem Hellfighters.

The story surrounds the first all-Black regiment who was sent overseas to fight in France against the Germans in WWI. When the play’s African American hero returns to Harlem after heroically fighting for his country abroad, he struggles to reintegrate into his community.

Starring Jacob Tremblay, Beverley Elliott, Fred Ewanuick, Lisa Durupt & Falcor the Ferret

The film will feature the song “Magic” as sung by Singer/Actress Selena Gomez in its closing credits.

The Promotion People - The Magic FerretCanadian Film Director, Alison Parker, is proud to announce that her upcoming short film, “The Magic Ferret” will begin shooting on September 7, 2013 and will shoot over two days in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The film is slated for a late 2013 release.

“The Magic Ferret” is the first film ever to be produced by Pacific Backlot Services, an equipment rental house in Vancouver, BC. The award-winning script was written by Scott and Paula Merrow of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Alison Parker, Hugh Brompton and Synnove Godeseth are also producers, with Shawn Seifert as Director of Photography. Several major companies have secured product placement in the film, including Hasbro, Pop Chips, KIND, Marshall Pet Products, Red Dragon Apparel, Defenders of Wildlife, Crayola, Sunmaid and iHome.

“The Magic Ferret” is a family-friendly comedic story centering around a six-year old orphan named Sam (played by Jacob Tremblay, known for his role as “Blue Winslow” in the Sony Pictures feature film The Smurfs 2) and his pet ferret, Booger (portrayed by Falcor the Ferret). Sam is as cute as a button, but he just can’t seem to find a family who wants him. When the newest prospective parents come to visit, Sam decides to impress them with a few magic tricks. He becomes “The Great Sambini”, with Booger as his assistant. When his most amazing trick flops, Sam is deflated but not defeated, and with Booger’s help he conjures up a different kind of magic.

Also starring in The Magic Ferret is Beverley Elliott, known for her role as “Granny” on ABC’s TV series Once Upon A Time. Canadian actor Fred Ewanuick from the TV shows Corner Gas and Dan For Mayor and the 2005 film Just Friends and actress Lisa Durupt, who is best known for her role as Shandra on HBO’s “Less Than Kind”, join Elliott, Tremblay and Falcor the Ferret to round out the cast.

The film will feature the song “Magic” as sung by Singer/Actress Selena Gomez in its closing credits. The song, originally performed by the Scottish band, Pilot, in 1974, reached #1 on the Canadian music charts in July of 1975. Gomez’ version of the song, which has over 40 million views on YouTube, was also heard in the Disney Channel original Movie Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie in 2009. It was also featured in the film adaptation of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules. In addition to Selena Gomez’ rendition of “Magic”, the soundtrack to “The Magic Ferret” also includes the hits “Spaceman” by Canadian singer Bif Naked and “This House” by Calgary’s own Cat Thomson.

Top Canadian Hip Hop Artist Bishop Brigante Taking on New Role as Breakout Actor in Film and Television Projects

The Promotion People Bishop Brigante

Established Canadian hip hop artist Bishop Brigante has risen to the top of the country’s music business, and is now set to conquer another aspect of the industry: acting. Bishop is following in the footsteps of many talented Canadian musicians before him, who pursued their passion for acting and proved their talent translates to the realm of film and TV. The acclaimed rapper-turned-actor is a multi-talented performer who has a number of buzz-worthy projects on the horizon. Most recently, Bishop wrapped a lead role as Carlos in the feature thriller “Evil Feed”, which is currently in post-production. In the vein of Grind House cinema, the horror also stars Lacy J. Mailey and Terry Chen.

Scarborough born and raise, Bishop has always had a natural ease with rhymes. After years of making a name for himself within music circles and battle circuits (he was the first Canadian to be featured on BET’s Freestyle Friday), he was signed to the Bodog Music label in 2008. Here he released his hit single “It’s Fo Twenty”, featuring Nate Dogg, to audience acclaim. His musical repertoire includes the MuchMusic video chart toppers: “6 Up”, “That’s the Way” and “About 2 Change”. Bishop has become a nationally recognized recording artist, electrifying crowds across the country on a number of national tours. His appeal spread across North America, with Bishop jumping on tours with the likes of 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes. He has collaborated with the best in the industry, including Drake, Snoop Dogg, Sticky Fingaz and MC Lyte.

It wasn’t until a cold call from director Joe Carnahan (Smoking Aces, The Grey) to cast Bishop in the feature film “Narc” (where he worked with Ray Liotta and Jason Patric), that he realized his passion for an entirely new aspect of the performing arts. Although Bishop didn’t have any experience acting, while filming his role he discovered many parallels between music and film. The more time he had on-set, the more he knew that this was his new calling to explore. Since then, he has booked roles on the UPN series “Platinum”, “Against the Wall”, “Cracked”, “Chupacabra vs. the Alamo”, and even stretched himself personally and professionally by appearing in the lead role of a stage production of “A Clockwork Orange”. Bishop also took on the role of host of the AUX TV series “Ultimate MC”, which found him traveling the country to find the best battle rapper in the nation. His natural talent, combined with his experience in entertainment, is helping Bishop to quickly prove his transition from hip-hop artist to actor is successful, as he earns respect from the acting world with each new role.

Bishop’s passion for music and film converged with the production of his critically acclaimed video “Hard Times”, directed by Sharpshooter. The video was more of a short cinematic production than a typical music video, and the film resonated with audiences internationally.

His music projects are no stranger to critical acclaim. Just last year, he was honoured with American radio station WBLK’s unsigned hype music awards Best Hip Hop Song of the Year, People’s Fan Choice Award, Producer of the Year, and Best Hip Hop Artist of the Year awards. Bishop also received an Urban World Film Festival award for Music Video of the Year in New York in 2004.

When not on-set, Bishop can be found in the studio writing songs, not only for himself, but other artists as well. When he isn’t writing music, he is writing scripts. Whenever his pen is down though, he dedicates his time to his close-knit family, in particular his seven- year-old son.

She is also passionate about charity and has been associated with Breast Cancer and Aids charities as well as The Children’s Foundation in Montreal. Elisabetta continues to volunteer her time hosting events, doing commercials and auctioning her paintings to raise awareness and money for charity.
