VOICE ACTOR DAVE PETTITT SOARS TO NEW HEIGHTS AS THE VOICE OF DISCOVERY CANADA’S ‘AIRSHOW’, ‘HIGHWAY THRU HELL’ AND TOURISM ECUADOR’S HISTORIC SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL

Dave Pettitt is a male voice actor with more than just a deep, clear voice. He brings a natural instinct and sound to every read. Finalist at the 2014 Voice Arts Awards, Dave was nominated for the campaign for Tourism Ecuador in the Outstanding National TV Commercial category. The 42^nd Annual Annie Awards were recently held in Los Angeles on January 31^st. The Annie Awards are the highest honor given for excellence in animation. Trophies are awarded for the year’s best feature film, video and television programs. Dave Pettitt has been a voice talent since 1992. His career began by lending his personality and vocal chops to morning radio in Calgary and on Vancouver Island. During that time, Dave was also being sought after by studios across North America to provide voice over for many well-known international clients. Voice over plays an enormous role in shaping the overall tone and quality of the production as a whole.

Dave is best known for his array of television narration for shows including Great Pacific Media’s ‘Airshow’ and ‘Highway thru Hell’, as well as History Channel’s ‘American Daredevils’ and ‘Draft Year’ on Sportsnet.

With credits in animation, including Lego’s Legends of Chima (2013), and countless National radio and television commercial clients, Dave has provided VO for Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful (2013) and Frozen (2013) Blu ray extras, Panasonic, Animal Planet Puppy Bowl and Nickelodeon.

It is his down to earth style and an everyman voice that makes him a great match for today’s documentary and real life drama series as well as international brands worldwide.

Spartan Race The World’s Leading Obstacle Race Event Series adds two new events to their 2014 schedule in Red Deer and Sun Peaks

The Ultra Beast in Sun Peaks is the world’s first marathon distance obstacle race to compete in Canada

Spartan Race, the world’s leading obstacle race event series, is pleased to announce the addition of two new events to their 2014 Western Canada Race Calendar including the first ever ULTRA BEAST event in Canada!

The Spartan Race Ultra Beast – the world’s first marathon distance Obstacle Race – will cover a 42km course with 56+ obstacles at the Sun Peaks ski hills with a few twists and challenges thrown in to keep it interesting. The Ultra Beast is only for elite athletes that are up for an extreme challenge. Only 50 spaces are available for this race.

A Sprint event has also been added to the Super Spartan weekend in Red Deer on September 7.

After the success of the Spartan Races in Western Canada in Vancouver and Edmonton already this season, Spartan Race will continue to challenge participants with three more amazing double weekends in Calgary, Red Deer and Sun Peaks Resort in Kamloops.

Voted Outside Magazine’s Best Obstacle Race in 2012 and featured in Men’s Health Magazine as one of the 5 Best Obstacle Races of 2014, Spartan Race is first of its kind to have global rankings. Spartan Race is a timed event series featuring races at three escalating distances in locations worldwide that culminate in a World Championship Finale in 2014 with cash and prizes for the champions. While featuring competitive elite heats, Spartan Races are for athletes of all levels and abilities and are designed to appeal to everyone from beginners to hardcore warriors and marathon runners alike, to have fun and cross the finish line.

More than 100,000 participants are expected to register for sixteen+ Spartan Races in the four different categories (Sprint, Super, Beast & Ultra Beast) across Canada and more than 65,000 spectators are expected.

Spartan Race Western Canada organizer & spokesperson Dean Stanton has been involved in similar sporting events for the past 3 decades as a participant and has been a race organizer for the last 10 years, including the 2009 World Police and Fire Games Triathlon in Maple Ridge. He brings his considerable racing expertise to help elevate Spartan Races in Western Canada to the next level.

Whiskey Jane’s tour throughout Western Canada will support the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI), one of Canada’s most renowned infantry regiments that helps serving and former soldiers and their families in need. Having supported the PPCLI charity since 2011, Whiskey Jane wrote and dedicated their song “Dear Jane” to the foundation and will be donating $5.00 from every CD sale on tour to the “For The Soldier Foundation”. They will also be playing at PPCLI’s 100th Anniversary celebration in Edmonton on August 7th.

The World’s Leading Obstacle Race Event Series Hits Western Canada Starting in June

The world’s leading obstacle race event series will hit Western Canada starting June 14^th, with stops in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer and Sun Peaks Resort in Kelowna.

Andrea Menard To Release Fourth Album, LIFT, A Musical Switch To Something Positive

Regina Symphony Orchestra will join Menard, led by Charles T. Cozens on the same day Lift hits shelves, May 3^rd 2014

Andrea Menard, beloved for her work in television and film (Blackstone, Rabbit Fall) and for her catalogue of musical releases including 2002’s The Velvet Devil, 2005’s Simple Steps, and 2009’s Sparkle, will be merging her unique style and “tour-de-force performance” [Ottawa Sun] with conductor Charles T. Cozens and the Regina Symphony Orchestra for I Am Andrea Menard on May 3^rd, 2014. Coinciding with this special show is the release of Menard’s album Lift, produced by longtime collaborator Robert Walsh.

Lift, written and produced with Edmonton-based producer Robert Walsh, marks their fourth collaboration together, came to life partly due to a hugely successful Indiegogo campaign supported by Menard’s passionate and enthusiastic fan base, who raised $12,000 towards the album’s production and release. The songs on Lift, in Menard’s own words, are “good medicine”, once again showcasing the unique musical chemistry between Menard and Walsh. Recorded at Unity Gain Productions, a straw bale facility built on a beautiful oasis in rural Manitoba, Lift captures the spirit and atmosphere of the sessions and the raw emotion and power in Menard’s voice. Lift is being released and promoted through Real World Artist Management.

Menard will be playing select dates to celebrate the release of Lift, including May 11^th Saskatoon; May 14^th Calgary; May 16^th Edmonton, May 23^rd Vancouver, June 16^th Toronto, June 18^th Ottawa, June 23rd Winnipeg.

I Am Andrea Menard, Menard’s new Symphony Show, will feature Menard and the RSO performing numbers composed by Menard and Walsh, with Walsh playing guitar and singing, and Cozens conducting. I Am Andrea Menard features a night of showstoppers specially arranged by Cozens, with additional arrangements written by Robert Walsh, Rick Wilkins, Micky Erbe, John Welsman, Anthony Rozankovic, and Pete Coulman.

About Robert Walsh
Robert Walsh, is an award winning singer-songwriter, musician and producer who has performed with artists such as The Pointer Sisters, Tom Cochrane, Renée Fleming, Petula Clark, The Canadian Tenors and Johnny Reid, is a member of Franco-Albertan roots group Allez Ouest, and has been featured often with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Walsh is the author of a music theory book and also teaches at Edmonton’s MacEwan University.

About Charles T. Cozens
Charles Cozens is an award winning conductor, orchestrator, and composer who has arranged and conducted for the likes of Elton John, Janelle Monae, Divine Brown, Serena Ryder, RyanDan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Molly Johnson, The Nylons, The Canadian Tenors, The Canadian Brass and Quartetto Gelato, among others. Cozens has over 90 CD recordings to his credit.

“THE MAGIC FERRET” BEGINS FILMING IN VANCOUVER

Starring Jacob Tremblay, Beverley Elliott, Fred Ewanuick, Lisa Durupt & Falcor the Ferret

The film will feature the song “Magic” as sung by Singer/Actress Selena Gomez in its closing credits.

Canadian Film Director, Alison Parker, is proud to announce that her upcoming short film, “The Magic Ferret” will begin shooting on September 7, 2013 and will shoot over two days in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The film is slated for a late 2013 release.

“The Magic Ferret” is the first film ever to be produced by Pacific Backlot Services, an equipment rental house in Vancouver, BC. The award-winning script was written by Scott and Paula Merrow of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Alison Parker, Hugh Brompton and Synnove Godeseth are also producers, with Shawn Seifert as Director of Photography. Several major companies have secured product placement in the film, including Hasbro, Pop Chips, KIND, Marshall Pet Products, Red Dragon Apparel, Defenders of Wildlife, Crayola, Sunmaid and iHome.

“The Magic Ferret” is a family-friendly comedic story centering around a six-year old orphan named Sam (played by Jacob Tremblay, known for his role as “Blue Winslow” in the Sony Pictures feature film The Smurfs 2) and his pet ferret, Booger (portrayed by Falcor the Ferret). Sam is as cute as a button, but he just can’t seem to find a family who wants him. When the newest prospective parents come to visit, Sam decides to impress them with a few magic tricks. He becomes “The Great Sambini”, with Booger as his assistant. When his most amazing trick flops, Sam is deflated but not defeated, and with Booger’s help he conjures up a different kind of magic.

Also starring in The Magic Ferret is Beverley Elliott, known for her role as “Granny” on ABC’s TV series Once Upon A Time. Canadian actor Fred Ewanuick from the TV shows Corner Gas and Dan For Mayor and the 2005 film Just Friends and actress Lisa Durupt, who is best known for her role as Shandra on HBO’s “Less Than Kind”, join Elliott, Tremblay and Falcor the Ferret to round out the cast.

The film will feature the song “Magic” as sung by Singer/Actress Selena Gomez in its closing credits. The song, originally performed by the Scottish band, Pilot, in 1974, reached #1 on the Canadian music charts in July of 1975. Gomez’ version of the song, which has over 40 million views on YouTube, was also heard in the Disney Channel original Movie Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie in 2009. It was also featured in the film adaptation of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules. In addition to Selena Gomez’ rendition of “Magic”, the soundtrack to “The Magic Ferret” also includes the hits “Spaceman” by Canadian singer Bif Naked and “This House” by Calgary’s own Cat Thomson.
