Actor Gerald Auger has a busy fall with roles in Australian production LOST FACE and Russian production PETERSBURG, A SELFIE

He produced and starred in BOHEMIAN BLOOD in The Frightening 48 Hour Film Challenge in Northern Alberta

Russian DowntownGerald Auger – actor, producer, writer, entrepreneur and motivational speaker of Woodland Cree descent from Alberta, Canada has a busy fall with roles in three short films: “Lost Face”, “Petersburg. A Selfie”, and an independent short film “Bohemian Blood” for The Frightening 48 Hour Film Challenge. This is a man on a mission and his characters capture the essence of his talent.

Filming this December in Calgary, Gerald has been cast in “Lost Face” a classic story by legendary writer Jack London that takes place in mid-1800’s Russian. Gerald Auger plays Makamuk, a fierce warrior in “Lost Face” who steps up as a chief to lead the remainder of his tribe to victory against the Russian fur thieves. Makamuk faces a power play with Subienkow, a Polack who finds himself the second-to last survivor of a group of Russian fur thieves.

In October Gerald flew to St. Petersburg, Russia for “Petersburg. A Selfie”, a collection of 7 stories about Russia’s most beautiful city through the perspective of 7 women on the concept of love. “Anichkov Bridge” is one of the stories from the collection by director Natalia Kudryashova. Through the story of one woman’s journey of self-hate, she comes to realize that she is living a human existence rather than a human experience that speaks from her heart – her soul. Auger plays a Native American Spirit who comes to visit her in the physical realm. With his ancient knowledge and wisdom from his ancestors, this Spirit conveys a message to her to love life again.

Bohemian BloodIn “Bohemian Blood”, Auger’s role is an Indigenous Cult leader of murderous Bohemian Artist Hookers that use hammers to kill their Johns in a Bohemian style brothel. Auger remarks, “The Frightening 48 Hour Film Challenge was indeed an intense, creative and collaborative effort! It’s a way for me to give back to the community.”

After being discovered at the opening ceremonies of the 1995 Canada Winter Games Auger has been working in the entertainment industry ever since. It all started with a supporting role in Gunslinger’s Revenge, a lead role in the National Geographic IMAX-production Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West, Hallmark Entertainment TV miniseries Dreamkeeper. Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks-produced miniseries Into the West; Klatsassin and CTV’s Luna: Spirit of The Whale, FUBAR 2, Western Confidential, The Plateau, Blackstone, AMC’s Hell on Wheels, CBC’s Strange Empire and soon to be seen in the new HBO’s Lewis and Clark series as Chief Le Borgne.

Auger produced, wrote and directed the short film “Walking Alone” and a National Film Board of Canada documentary “Honour Thy Father” won Best Film Representing Cultural Diversity at the Alberta Motion Picture Industry Awards in 2009. He wrote and produced the series “The Ancients for Aboriginal Peoples Television Network” and worked on the sequel to his film “Honour Thy Father—Our Journey Home”, which deals with Christianity and Native spirituality in Indian country.

Auger has been on his spiritual journey for over 20 years and often coordinates a sweat lodge ceremony to have spirit helpers empower and enlighten others. One of his missions in life is to honour the Indigenous people in terms of how they are portrayed. In 1996 and 1997 Auger was awarded the National Native Role Model by the Governor General of Canada and spent the next two years visiting more than 30 communities across Canada, inspiring his aboriginal peers, relating stories about his experiences and bonding with locals through cultural events and ceremonies. Auger is the first aboriginal recipient of the Rotary International Integrity Award for the Avenue of Nations in Alberta.

Auger continues to produce films, television series and documentaries aiming to advance the status and expose the stereotyping of his people. Auger latest roles are doing just that, playing a cult leader to a modern day Native American with a rock star style in Russia. Making Russian cinematic history as an Indigenous actor shooting a film in Russia.

Dejan Loyola adds the role of Dr.Dev Sekara on CTV’s “Saving Hope”

Screen Shot 2015-11-20 at 7.26.47 AMDejan Loyola’s role on CTV’s “Saving Hope” as Dr. Dev Sekara is close to home.  Dr. Dev is an eager first year surgical resident at Hope Zion Hospital. He uses humour to try and diffuse his anxiety of being one of the hospital’s bright young doctors. Dev is the extremely compassionate albeit naive love interest of Dr. Cassie Williams (Kim Shaw). “Saving Hope” airs Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CTV.

“Saving Hope” has a special personal meaning to Dejan as he is the son of two former psychiatric nurses and is a former mental health care worker himself. Because Dejan has been surrounded by the medical world from an early age, the role of Dr. Dev Sekara is a perfect fit.

Dev definitely has aspects of both my parents in him, it has been really cool to incorporate my personal experience.” Dejan says, “Both my parents are former psychiatric nurses and I was a mental health care worker myself for a number of years. Coming from a family of medical professionals it has been an incredible experience being able to portray a young doctor.”

Dejan Loyola’s television debut was on the pilot episode of the science-fiction themed “V”, with following work in the 2010 fantasy film “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief”, guest roles on a number of TV series that include “Tower Prep”, “Fringe”, “Emily Owens M.D.” and “The Tomorrow People”, as well as appearances in the television movies “Best Player” and “Grave Halloween”. Dejan plays comedic relief in the Nickelodeon films: “Best Player” and “One Crazy Cruise”. Dejan was one of the series leads in the CW pilot “H.M.S.: White Coat” and also had a supporting lead role in the independent feature “Evangeline”, which was nominated for nine Leo Award’s in 2014.

SH4_EP405_D2_SW_0025Dejan’s work is showcased through a multitude of diverse roles. In “Best Player”, Dejan plays The Eviscer8r, a villainous and ridiculous professional video game player. In “Grave Halloween”, his lead role as Terry, an American exchange student studying film in Japan, is a joker, caring, and a bit nerdy but also brave when the chips are down. On the other side of the spectrum, Dejan played Rafi, a genie and brother of the male lead, Cyrus, on “Once Upon A Time in Wonderland”.

A highlight moment to Dejan’s career was the opportunity to chat and work alongside Tom Cruise even though it was just for a day doing stunts driving a scooter for “Mission Impossible 4”.

When time permits, Dejan returns to his old school on Salt Spring Island to teach improv and theatre. His early days in writing, directing and acting in theatre resulted in scholarships and bursaries that allowed him to start training.

Dejan lived in his father’s homeland of Sri Lanka for a couple of years during the civil war and was primarily home schooled due to the country’s hardships. He returned to Canada with his family when he was at the age of 7 and enrolled in acting classes at a community theatre where his first connection to other youths were made. Attending public school for the first time at the age of 12 was a struggle but he used comedy to make people laugh, connect with people, and make new friends. This journey taught him the power of connecting with others through smile and laughter, developing an even deeper love for stage and screen work.

Dejan grew up on Salt Spring Island and resides in Toronto while filming the TV series “Saving Hope” over six months, but his home is in Vancouver.

Dejan is available for interviews upon request.

Sixteen year old musician Logan Jones releases his 2nd album Platinum Grooves

Screen Shot 2015-11-10 at 7.43.30 PMKicks off album on November 20th at Seven Dining Lounge in Vancouver, BC

Sixteen year old Logan Jones, an innovative, highly creative, and prolific composer, is releasing his second album “Platinum Grooves”. Logan will be joined by nine of Canada’s most seasoned session musicians on stage Friday November 20th, 2015 at Seven Dining Lounge in Vancouver to showcase his original tracks. Cover will be by donation.

“Platinum Grooves” was forged on the site of a platinum mine in construction with a string quartet during one of Logan’s many trips to South Africa. He also worked with Free State University teacher/producer John Smit to explore African based rhythms to help add new dimensions to his music.

“Platinum Grooves” includes over 70 minutes of music composed by Logan. The sounds include keyboard, percussions, and chords that cross-different genres in a jazz, funk and rock guitar.. String quartets can also be found seamlessly knitted into some of the tracks. Each layer of music has been added with a distinct purpose. Logan’s arrangement of sounds is dazzling in profound and affecting ways.

Logan is ready to take his music to new heights. Grammy-nominated songwriter (Carey Ott based in Nashville ) says of Logan “He is tapping the pure well of creativity”. Logan’s music has also been described as cross genre, pop music accessible and undeniably interesting.

Platinum Grooves is an album of music that reflects Logan’s unique style, creativity and journey. In this album, the tracks “6474” and “Twenty Three” are named after their complex time signatures. “Fight to be Free” gives off a struggling effect. Its theme has connections to Logan’s travel to South Africa and the history of that country. The feel of David Gilmore’s legendary guitar style was Logan’s guitar inspiration for his track “High School Spy”. The dimension of a classically trained string quartet was added to the Platinum Grooves 5-9 sessions at the 1915 building of Soundsphere Studios in Bloemfontein, South Africa. In Platinum Groove 9 the sounds of hammering metal and vehicles gives ethos to the mine building in Africa.

Logan’s love for music started at the age of 3 with the French horn as his first instrument. He started playing it by lying on the carpet and playing it sideways. That was enough to fire his passion for music and to take music onto a whole new level in his own signature way. He developed a multifaceted interest in music that has brought him from playing guitar, drums and keyboard to writing and composing his own. Logan is definitely talented, highly creative, deeply passionate, and wise beyond his years.

Logan has worked with musicians from Nashville, London, Vancouver, Toronto, Paris, to South Africa. He has recorded at the famous Fader Mountain (Little Mountain Sound Vancouver) where the greats from Aerosmith to Hedley and Rage Against the Machine have recorded. Logan has also worked with Grammy nominated songwriter Carey Ott. Logan’s inspirations for his music come from rhythms and harmonies of all music types across continents and decades. Music heroes whose work has influenced Logan’s style are Mark Knopfler, Herbie Hancock, Pink Floyd, Sting and the movie music of Brian Tyler. Logan’s first album “Believe” produced by Dunbar Underground Studios was released in 2014 and can be purchased on iTunes. Famous music producer Garth “GGGarth” Richardson at one of Logan’s gigs said “I can hear his influences and I can hear him inventing for himself many things that have come before”.

Logan lives in Vancouver, BC and hopes to have the opportunity to write for film, television and video games.

Young actor William Ainscough stars as Milton in the feature film Milton’s Secret based on Eckhart Tolle’s book

William332Features’ cast includes Donald Sutherland, Michelle Rodriguez, David Sutcliffe, Mia Kirshner and Sheila McCarthy

Young actor William Ainscough is starring in the leading role as Milton in the highly anticipated feature film Milton’s Secret that just wrapped in Hamilton, Ontario. Based on the children’s book of the same name which was co-authored by the world-renowned “spiritual” teacher Eckhart Tolle, Milton’s Secret features a cast that includes Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games franchise, Pirate’s Passage), Michelle Rodriguez (The Fast and Furious franchise, Avatar, Machete Kills), David Sutcliffe (Gilmore Girls, Cracked), Mia Kirshner (The L Word, Black Dahlia), Sheila McCarthy (Orphan Black, Little Mosque on the Prairie, Die Hard 2) and Hays Wellford (Cop Car, Independence Day: Resurgence).

Milton’s Secret focuses on young Milton (Ainscough) whose workaholic parents (Kirshner and Sutcliffe) are struggling with marital and financial problems. Milton is bullied at school where his teacher (Rodriguez) does her best to uplift his spirits and inspires him under difficult circumstances, as does the free spirited neighborhood barista Luz (McCarthy) and friend, Tim (Wellford). But it’s his grandfather Stewart Howard (Sutherland), a retired Force Recon Marine who shows Milton the secret of finding true happiness.

“This project is close to my heart, as I love movies that not only entertain, but also contribute to the awakening of human consciousness,” said Tolle co-author of Milton’s Secret.

12079463_497942980384426_1744273064178668562_nEmmy® award nominee Barnet Baines is the director and lead writer for the film. Milton’s Secret is being produced by Sean Buckley (Defendor, Wolf Cop, Pretend We’re Kissing) of Buck Productions, Fred Fuchs (The Godfather Part lll, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, The Secret Garden) for Buck Productions, Stephen Huszar for Riverside Entertainment and Ryan Lockwood for Hulo Films. Production takes place in Hamilton, Ontario until the end of October.

At the age of 9, William answered an open casting call notice for a new feature film Hidden being distributed by Warner Brothers. William was successful in landing the role of Joey, a slightly shy and soulful boy and close friend and neighbor of Zoe’s (Emily Alyn Lind). The film Hidden, directed by The Duffer Brothers, also stars Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood, Battleship) and Andrea Riseborough (Oblivion, Never Let Me Go).

William’s second audition was for the role of Billy in the CityTV/Force Four Entertainment comedy Seed. Seed filmed two seasons and was hailed as both a critical and commercial success; it filmed in Halifax, Nova Scotia. William was nominated as Best Newcomer for the ACTRA/UBCP Awards and won the JOEY AWARD for his work in Seed.

Other highlights for William included learning how to realistically perform an English accent in order to play the iconic role of John Darling in ABC’s Once Upon a Time, and a major supporting role in the television feature Zapped for the Disney Channel. William just wrapped the feature The History of Love playing the role of Bird, directed by auteur filmmaker Radu Mihaileanu, it filmed in Montreal, New York and Romania during the summer of 2015.

To raise money for Covenant House Todd has created a special fund raising event ‘PEDI TO THE METAL’ by inviting 30 gentlemen to join him for a night of manly pampering, fine cars, high-end scotch tasting and food at JoyRide Nail Salon on November 6th from 7:00 – 10:00 pm.  In conjunction with The BMW Store this exclusive party will be raising money and awareness for Covenant House.

Upon arrival the gentlemen are given a choice of driving the new 7 series BMW (not yet launched in Canada) or the BMW i8 super car. They will then enter into, the appropriately named, JoyRide Studio at 4th and Burrard. Inside, you will have a designated time to experience a pedicure or manicure as well as partake in Glenmorangie Scotch and Ardbeg Scotch with some great eats by Railtown Catering. With plans of this becoming an annual event Todd’s goal is to raise a whack of money for Covenant House prior to doing the ‘Sleep Out’ on November 19th.

Tickets are limited and cost $200. You will receive a $100 tax receipt from Covenant House with the balance covering the cost of the evening. Todd encourages everyone to consider adding a few extra bucks for this amazing organization.

IMG_0219-Edit“I am inspired to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Covenant House. Having friends and family who have struggled with addiction, mental illness, and being on the streets, I know they need a last line of defense and the resources to stay safe. Covenant House delivers support that is desperately needed,” says Talbot. “I am so fortunate and admittedly lucky to be in the position I’m in. As a father of two, I am aware that there are no promises when it comes to my children’s future. I see these young adults who could be my kids. Imagining them struggling and lost, breaks my heart. I know that a safe haven is essential. Protection, warmth, and a supportive environment is a necessity for all of us. We have an opportunity to provide that for youth who can’t provide for themselves at the moment.”

The SLEEP OUT is on November 19th and Covenant House is challenging local executives, community luminaries and notables to Sleep Out for one night in solidarity with the youth we serve at Covenant House. With only a sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard, participants will get a small glimpse of what it’s like to “sleep” on the street.

Covenant Houses throughout the United States and Canada will host Sleep Out events this fall to raise critical funds and awareness about the issue of youth homelessness. We hope you consider joining the movement. Many youth who have nowhere else to turn spend many cold and lonely nights sleeping on the streets.

Covenant House’s Crisis Program takes in homeless, runaway and at-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 24.

Homeless, lost and afraid, more than 1,500 street–involved youth come to Covenant House Vancouver each year to find sanctuary and a brighter future. Cold, hungry and alone, the reality of sleeping on the streets is harsh and unforgiving. Many of the youth who make their way through our doors have had to endure cruel life circumstances on the pitiless streets before they finally find hope here at Covenant House Vancouver. We welcome them unconditionally, helping them begin their journey to leave life on the streets behind them for good.

Covenant House Vancouver provides food, shelter, clothing and counselling to the estimated 700 street youth living in Vancouver at any given time. Most of the young people they help have fled abuse at home or have aged out of the foster care system. Last year, over 1,375 young people accessed Covenant House’s services. If you deeply care about youth and this community of young people in need, please join Todd and donate what you can to help continue this amazing work.

If you can’t attend PEDI TO THE METAL please contribute below. Every bit counts $20, $100, $500, whatever you are inspired to contribute Todd really appreciates it and more importantly the folks at Covenant House appreciate it even more. Every little bit helps…please click on the link and then there is a blue button in the top right corner that says GIVE NOW

Up and coming actor Emily Haine takes on the role of Noreen Vanderslice on FX’s Fargo

Fargo Season 2 will premiere on FX on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 10/9c.

Untitled-4Emily Haine is on the fast track to becoming a house-hold name booking most roles that she has auditioned for in her two years as an actor. Emily can be seen in her recurring role as Noreen Vanderslice on the Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winning FX hit television series “Fargo” premiering the second season on Monday, October 12 at 10et/pt 9 ct.

Although her success comes as a wonderful surprise to Emily, her mother predicted that 2015 was going to hold big changes for her since she was a child. Emily attributes her success to perpetual training, a close support group and perseverance.

Emily plays Noreen Vanderslice, an emancipated 17 year-old vegetarian working in a butcher shop in Luverne, Minnesota, USA 1979. She’s a bookworm with no filter and sharp wit. Shortly after she booked the role Emily received an email from creator/show runner Noah Hawley with a wealth of literary, musical and historical references for her character Noreen. Working on a character with such depth and scope is a dream come true for Emily.

Emily is grateful for the camaraderie and creative insights shared with her by “Fargo” lead Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man 2), on the first day that Emily walked into the makeup trailer, Kirsten immediately introduced herself and shared her informed perspectives on Emily’s character, which had a great impact on Emily.

Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad, Friday Night Lights) was another consummate professional who went out of his way to welcome Emily onto the “Fargo” set and generously collaborated on grounding and acting techniques with her. Emily feels privileged and inspired to be part of such incredible talent.

Last year Emily played the role of Keenan on CW’s “The 100”. Initially she was booked for one episode but once the producers saw her performance they booked additional episodes. Emily says, “I believe if you show up, work hard and have a love for your craft, good things are primed to happen.”

Untitled-3

Most recently Emily has been shooting the feature film “Gregoire” directed and written by the talented Cody Bown, who has had three films screen at Cannes Film Festival in the past three years. The film is shot by cinematography Jan Klompje. Emily plays one of the lead roles of Alexa, a conflicted young 20 year old, trapped by circumstance in her hometown of Fort McMurray, Alberta. Her character is sharp-tongued and self-involved. Emily found it fascinating to get into the mind of a person who portrays themselves as indestructible. “Gregoire” is scheduled for release and the film festival circuit in 2016.

Cody says, “I got to meet up with Emily just to talk about the project and share philosophies and as every second went by I realized more and more that she was the perfect choice for this role and no one else could have been this character but her. During the off days, seeing the prep work she was doing for the next days scenes as well as overall character development and prep made my job a lot easier to work with someone who ‘gets it’. This hard work paid off and the results will show on the screen. She put her heart and soul into this character and I couldn’t have asked for more. “

Another role that Emily is proud of is in an experimental short film as the solitary lead in “Milkhoney” that was an official selection of the Miami Fashion Film Festival in 2014.

As a kid Emily was pulled out of ballet because she was too wild however she thrived in musical theatre because it was the one of the few places that embraced her eccentricities. After completing school Emily bought a one-way ticket to Frankfurt, Germany. After a year spent traveling and living out of a backpack and came to realize life is really one long crazy dream and that she only had to give herself over to it. She obtained a UK visa, moved to London where she was accepted into to the full time program at The Actors Temple, a private Meisner studio in the West End.

Last year multi-talented Emily was a full time student at Emily Carr University for Design. She also played bass and sang in Eric Campbell and the Dirt and can be heard on the band’s second studio album recorded at Eagletime Records.

Emily grew up in Richmond, B.C. and now resides in East Vancouver. B.C. with her kitten named Clementine Cuddlebutt.

Emily is available for interviews and photos upon request.

PAUL SCHEER BOARDS VINE SERIES “WHITE NINJA”

photo-59 copyThe first narrative series developed for the Vine platform has found its star. Paul Scheer has signed on, lending his talents to bring new life to the legendary and hilarious White Ninja.

The series is based on the hugely popular web comic of the same name that ran exclusive strips on Cracked.com before going on an “official hiatus” on August 14, 2013. Created by Scott Bevan and Kent Earle, the strip has over 1300 comics in it’s archive, boasting a fan base spread across the globe.

Scheer, known for his role as Andre Nowzick on FX’s The League as well as stints on 30 Rock, The Kroll Show, Fresh Off The Boat, Hulu’s Hotwives of Las Vegas and the recently released comedy special CrashTest, will voice White Ninja; the intellectually restricted and, apparently, pain impervious eponymous character. Scheer is joined by Kathleen Barr (Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, ReBoot.), Brian Drummond (Inspector Gadget, DragonBallZ), Shannon Chan Kent (Littlest Pet Shop, My Little Pony), and David A. Kaye (Make Way for Noddy, X-Men Evolution) who will lend their voices to a wide world of characters.

Scheduled to premiere its first five episodes on December 5th, 2015, the series has also added six of Vine’s biggest stars to it’s roster of directors. Brandon Bowen, Jon Paul Piques (Piques), Gabe Erwin, Esa Fung (Esa Fungtastic), Gregor Reynolds (GregorR), and Stewart Reynolds (Brittlestar) have all come on board to direct a block of episodes for the series. After the initial launch the show will roll out three episodes a week on the White Ninja vine channel – vine.co/WhiteNinja.

North of Now Films and Whiskaye Films, two Vancouver-based production companies, have teamed up to resurrect the hugely popular web comic. Tyler Funk of North of Now Films is heading up the project as the creator and showrunner working with Jameson Parker and David Kaye of Whiskaye Films who are on board as Executive Producers.

Poke A Fish“We are very excited to have Paul joining an already incredible team of creatives” said Parker, “the White Ninja name has attracted an amazing selection of writers and directors for the show including some of the biggest influencers in sketch comedy, stand-up, and the YouTube and Vine world. Paul is a huge comedic talent and the perfect choice to bring White Ninja to life”.

A teaser trailer was released to excite fans of the comic ahead of the scheduled summer production commencement. Multiple award-winning animator Erick Grigorovski is attached to the project as its lead animator, tasked with transporting this minimalistic and quirky world to this new and exciting format.
