TAMMY GILLIS SHINES IN FESTIVAL GEM, FEATURE FILM ‘MENORCA’

Tammy recently won Best Actress at the Noida International Film Festival in Delhi, India

She is also set to appear on the small screen in The Arrangement, premiering March 5th

Tammy Gillis is kicking off 2017 with a bang, celebrating her acclaimed role in the indie festival circuit gem, ‘Menorca’, with a recent Best Actress award at the Noida International Film Festival in India. Tammy will be heading to the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose next, where ‘Menorca’ will be screening from March 1-10. The film has garnered critical acclaim internationally, and is set to continue premieres across the country, with screenings scheduled for Winnipeg (April 20th), Toronto (April 21st) and Vancouver (TBA). Tammy will be attending the screenings, and is available for interviews upon request.

Menorca is the dramatic feature film directorial debut by John Barnard of Farpoint Film, who also wrote the film.  Tammy plays a hedonistic soccer mom who indulges in her fantasy world, breaking away entirely from her family and life of motherhood. As she embarks on a journey through bad decision-making, she comes to a conclusion to the singularity of her life purpose — she needs to win back her son’s affection.

On the small screen, Tammy can be seen in a recurring role on the E! Network’s new series ‘The Arrangement’, which premieres March 5, 2017. Tammy plays an actress on the show, which follows fellow actress Megan, who is desperate for that really big break. Megan lands the role of a lifetime, quickly winning the affections of her A-list co-star-to-be, the fabulously successful and wealthy Kyle West.  However, her world is rocked when she is presented with a life-changing “arrangement”, for which she will be compensated lavishly.

A Hallmark Channel fan favourite, Tammy will be appearing on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries network for a role in the original movie ‘Murder She Baked: Just Desserts’, premiering March 26, 2017. Tammy plays Michelle Bishop, the coach’s wife, on the series, which follows crime-solving baker Hannah Swensen’s first-ever televised bake-off competition gone horribly wrong.

In theatres, Tammy has the feature film ‘Thirty-Seventeen’ on the horizon. The film follows tech billionaire Adam Vine as he attends his 20th high school reunion. Convinced that he and his classmates have unfinished business that dates back to 1997, he uses his immense cash flow to buy the impossible: a brief return to high school for all of them. Tammy plays Claire in the film, one of the popular girls in high school who wants to relive her youth by getting wild at the reunion party. The film is set for theatrical release in the spring.

The Hallmark Channel has been home to many popular appearances by Tammy, including her most recent release in a co-starring role opposite Danica McKellar in ‘Wedding Bells’. Also on the Hallmark Channel, Tammy had a lead role in one of the network’s most highly rated movies, ‘Unleashing Mr. Darcy’. In this modern day spin on ‘Pride & Prejudice’, Tammy starred along with Cindy Busby, Ryan Paevey and Frances Fischer.

Tammy, who was recently nominated for a Leo Award for Best Female Guest Performance for her role in ‘Ties That Bind’, is widely recognized for her multitude of film and television appearances. In a challenging role, she played a profound character in ‘Signed Sealed Delivered: Impossible Dream’. Her character is based on the real story of the Band of Sisters, an ultra-secret Joint Special Operations Command – which sent female soldiers in the field to go out on combat missions alongside the Rangers. Tammy’s role displays the diversity and talent of her acting.

Tammy’s directorial debut came earlier this year for the web series ‘The Support Group’, which she also produced and acted in. The original comedy web series follows three unlikely friends, each facing their own challenges and coming together to save their beloved support group.

This exceptionally talented actress has over 50 credits to her name and has made TV guest appearances on Ties that Bind (UPTV), Motive(CTV/ABC), Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce (Bravo), Supernatural (CW), Lost Girl (Showcase), Blue Mountain State (Spike TV), Endgame (Showcase), and many more.  She has recurred on the critically acclaimed award winning HBO Canada series Less Than Kind and jPod (CBC) .Additional work in which Tammy has appeared includes the feature films White Noise 2, Shooter, No Men Beyond This Point, and The Pinocchio Project, as well as leading roles in A Novel Romance (Hallmark), and Stolen from the Womb (Lifetime).

Divvying up her time between Vancouver, the east coast of Canada and Los Angeles, Tammy is a rising star who brings years of entertainment industry experience to the table. A well-respected member of the community, she served as a jury member for the Canadian Screen Awards for the past two years. Tammy has also volunteered as a mentor for the WIFTV actor mentorship program for the past three years.

Tammy Gillis co-stars in Wedding Bells, with Danica McKellar, Kavan Smith and Bruce Boxleitner

Nick and Molly, commitment-phobic and busy professionals with little in common, are asked to be the best man and maid of honor at the wedding of their mutual friends, Amy and Jamie. What they both assume will require a few hours out of their hectic lives quickly turns into a full-time job - and a life-changing romantic experience -- when they end up organizing the wedding for the squabbling and ill-suited couple at a rustic hotel owned by Nick's father. It becomes increasingly clear Amy and Jamie shouldn't be getting married, but the joyful and romantic mood created by a wedding encourages the blossoming of new love, re-establishes heartfelt family connections and gives rise to the possibility of new lives. Tammy Gillis is becoming a fast favorite in Hallmark Channel original productions, with her most recent release in a co-starring role in Wedding Bells proving why. Tammy is starring alongside Danica McKellar (The Wonder Years), Kavan Smith (When Calls the Heart) and Bruce Boxleitner (Cedar Cove). Molly Quinn (Dancia McKellar) is a young New York fashion designer who would rather be single than risk being hurt by love. As she struggles to create a new fashion line, Molly’s socialite best friend, Amy (Tammy Gillis), and her fiancé, James (Christopher Russell), invite her to dinner. At a trendy restaurant, Molly meets handsome chef Nick Turner (Kavan Smith), a confirmed bachelor, who also believes that love only leads to heartache. Through a series of emotional wedding-related events, the two are forced to work together -and inevitably- the opposites attract, despite themselves.

Tammy Gillis co-stars in Hallmark Channel’s UNLEASHING MR. DARCY airing Saturday, January 23rd at 9pm starring Cindy Busby, Ryan Paevey and Francis Fisher

_DSC0282 edit 4Tammy’s directorial debut on the original comedy web series THE SUPPORT GROUP

Next up for Tammy Gillis is a lead role in Hallmark Channel’s UNLEASHING MR. DARCY that will air on Saturday, January 23rd at 9 :00 pm. In this modern day spin on “Pride & Prejudice,” Elizabeth Scott (Cindy Busby), is fishing for direction in her life and gets the opportunity to professionally show her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in a fancy New York dog show. Dog show judge Donovan Darcy (Ryan Paevey) comes across as aristocratic and rude and a chain of misunderstandings unfold during the competition, complicating their mutual attraction. In true Jane Austen fashion, Elizabeth and Donovan begin to see the error of their ways and it turns out Mr. Darcy is far more kind and interesting than Elizabeth ever imagined. Tammy plays the lead role of Jenna Scott, an older and endearing sister to the female heroine, played by Cindy Busby. Both the sisters face the pressures from their mother to fall in love and get married. This movie is based on a book and is a play off of Pride and Prejudice. Tammy’s character unexpectedly finds herself meeting love at first sight.

downloadJust launched is Tammy’s directorial debut for the web series THE SUPPORT GROUP, which she also produced and acted in. The original comedy web series follows three unlikely friends, each facing their own challenges and coming together to save their beloved support group. Produced by Beyond Theatre Productions, the production team was featured in the Vancouver Sun as up-and coming filmmakers. The series airs on Beyond Theatre Productions YouTube channel.

Last summer took Tammy to Spain and Winnipeg to film the lead role in the feature film MENORCA. Menorca is a feature film directed and written by John Barnard of Farpoint Films. Tammy plays a hedonistic soccer mom who indulges in her fantasy world, breaking away entirely from her family and life of motherhood. As she embarks on a journey through bad decision-making, she comes to a conclusion to the singularity of her life purpose. She needs to win back her son’s affection.

Tammy is also widely recognized for her multitude of film and television appearances. Most recently Tammy Gillis played a profound character in Signed Sealed Delivered: Impossible Dream. Her character is based on the real story of the Band of Sisters, an ultra-secret Joint Special Operations Command – which sent female soldiers in the field to go out on combat missions alongside the Rangers. Tammy’s role depicts a female U.S. soldier in the special ops unit who is held captive in Afghanistan. In this movie, Tammy embodies the strength and courage of her character that is needed for survival, while also being able to portray the compassion found in human nature even under such difficult circumstances. This role displays the diversity and talent of Tammy’s acting. http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/23/opinions/lemmon-band-of-sisters-special-ops/
