Sixteen-year-old Vancouver Musician/Composer Logan Jones has garnered attention and is composing themes for several television series since the release of his second album “Platinum Grooves”

Logan will meet composer Brian Tyler back stage at his concert with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London England on May 7th

092915_VANCOUVER_PHOTOGRAPHER_000II_1024Sixteen-year old Logan Jones, an innovative, highly creative, and prolific composer who recently released his second album “Platinum Grooves,” is catching the attention of television productions and music reviewers. Logan is ready to take his music to new heights.

In a recent article feature in 24hrs Vancouver by music reviewer Joe Leary “Teen writing the soundtrack of his life” Leary say “At 16, Vancouver’s Logan Jones is the youngest artist to be featured in this column. A multi-instrumentalist, he’s already built a sizeable library of music as he pursues film — and already has a television soundtrack in the works”.

http://vancouver.24hrs.ca/2016/03/31/teen-writing-the-soundtrack-of-his-life

Catching the attention of television producers/hosts Logan is currently working on the theme music for two television series “BC Brew on Tap” and “Get Cooking with the Stars.”

Logan’s interest in soundtracks is inspired by musician Brian Tyler, who has composed music for feature films including “Iron Man 3,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Furious 7.” Since the article Brian Tyler has posted Logan’s story to his audience. Logan will meet Brian in London, England backstage after his concert conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra on May 7th. Logan hopes to have a career like Brian one day.

Grammy-nominated Nashville’s songwriter Carey Ott says of Logan “He is tapping the pure well of creativity”. Logan’s music has also been described as cross genre, pop music accessible and undeniably interesting.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 4.58.32 PM“Platinum Grooves” was forged on the site of a platinum mine in construction with a string quartet during one of Logan’s many trips to South Africa. He also worked with Free State University teacher/producer John Smit to explore African based rhythms to help add new dimensions to his music.

“Platinum Grooves” includes over 70 minutes of music composed by Logan. The sounds include keyboard, percussions, and chords that cross-different genres in a jazz, funk and rock guitar. String quartets can also be found seamlessly knitted into some of the tracks. Each layer of music has been added with a distinct purpose. Logan’s arrangement of sounds is dazzling in profound and affecting ways.

Platinum Grooves is an album of music that reflects Logan’s unique style, creativity and journey. In this album, the tracks “6474” and “Twenty Three” are named after their complex time signatures while “Fight to be Free” gives off a struggling effect. Its theme has connections to Logan’s travel to South Africa and the history of that country. The feel of David Gilmour’s legendary guitar style was Logan’s guitar inspiration for his track “High School Spy”. The dimension of a classically trained string quartet was added to the Platinum Grooves 5-9 sessions at the 1915 building of Soundsphere Studios in Bloemfontein, South Africa. In Platinum Groove 9 the sounds of hammering metal and vehicles gives ethos to the mine building in Africa.

Logan’s love for music started at the age of 3 with the French horn as his first instrument. He started playing it by lying on the carpet and playing it sideways. That was enough to fire his passion for music and to take music onto a whole new level in his own signature way. He developed a multifaceted interest in music that has brought him from playing guitar, drums and keyboard to writing and composing his own. Logan is definitely talented, highly creative, deeply passionate, and wise beyond his years.

Logan has worked with musicians from Nashville, London, Vancouver, Toronto, Paris, to South Africa. He has recorded at the famous Fader Mountain (Little Mountain Sound Vancouver) where the greats from Aerosmith to Hedley and Rage Against the Machine have recorded. Logan has also worked with Grammy nominated songwriter Carey Ott. Logan’s inspirations for his music come from rhythms and harmonies of all music types across continents and decades. Music heroes whose work has influenced Logan’s style are Mark Knopfler, Herbie Hancock, Pink Floyd, Sting in addition to the movie music of Brian Tyler. Logan’s first album “Believe” produced by Dunbar Underground Studios was released in 2014 and can be purchased on iTunes. Famous music producer Garth “GGGarth” Richardson at one of Logan’s gigs said, “I can hear his influences and I can hear him inventing for himself many things that have come before”.

Logan takes his inspiration from many experiences. He recently travelled to Honduras for a week in the jungle and a week of diving. Throughout the week, Logan completed underwater survey work and had 9 dives in total, each one at a different site, providing a great variety of coral to explore and new marine life sightings. The trip was a paradise for inspiration – with a waterfall showers and beautifully rich wildlife.

Logan lives in Vancouver, BC and looks forward to more opportunities to write for film, television and video games. Logan composes his music at Dunbar Underground Studios – but also leaves time just to write for fun.

Motorcyle Boy Productions and IndustryWorks Pictures are pleased to announce that the feature film CANDiLAND will have their World Premiere at the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival on April 23, 2016 at 4:00. CANDiLAND stars Oscar nominee Gary Busey (The Buddy Holly Story), Chelah Horsdal (Arrow, Hell on Wheels) and James Clayton (Foodland). CANDiLAND marks a nuanced departure for Busey, who has been seen as a contestant in reality TV shows such as NBC’S The Apprentice and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. CANDiLAND tells the story of intensified mutual attraction to the point of deadly obsession. Peter (James Clayton), a retired and embittered tennis pro, who is estranged from his father Arnie (Gary Busey), decides to leave the solace of his apartment and happens upon Tess (Chelah Horsdal). Tess, a recent vulnerable divorcee, finds Peter’s intensity and attention irresistible. Together they pursue ‘oneness’ and consciously shut out the world, barricading themselves inside Peter’s apartment. A desperate Arnie attempts to liberate the pair from CANDiLAND– but will he make it in time?

Candiland Still_7adjustedGary Busey states “CANDiLAND teaches us to pay attention to the heart of the injured like you haven’t paid attention before.”

Rusty Nixon “”Elizabeth Engstrom’s cult novel has haunted me since I first read it twenty years ago. It was an honor to bring the book to life and to work with such a passionate cast and crew to create an unforgettable film experience.”

Acclaimed pop-culture artist Elisabetta Fantone Art Show GOING POP Opens at Lacey Contemporary Gallery in London, UK March 30th

ElisabettaFantoneElisabetta acting talents shines on the big screen and television series in both French and English productions including Oscar nominated ‘Big Eyes’

Versatile artist/actor Elisabetta Fantone’s exhibit GOING POP travels across the pond to the Lacey Contemporary Gallery in London, UK from March 30th till April 9th. The gallery will continue to represent her work in London.

Elisabetta combines her two passions of painting and performing with her art. These latest art show comes after Elisabetta’s well-publicized tour of her artwork across North America. She had her pieces displayed at Vancouver’s Kurbatoff Gallery, The Thompson Landry Gallery in Toronto during TIFF, Calvin Charles Gallery in Scottsdale, Latitude Gallery in Calgary, Lando Gallery in Edmonton, La Galerie du Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City, the Evan Lurie gallery in Indianapolis and the Myra Galleries in Miami. Her shows pay homage to classic icons, including Marilyn Monroe, Mick Jagger, Elisabeth Taylor, Bob Dylan and Marlon Brando.

Last December Elisabetta painted a new mural for Art Basel in Miami. The mural is titled ‘Crimes Against Art’ and it features the portraits of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol posing for their fictional mugshots. The mural is located at 277 NW 26th St. Miami. (Wynwood) Last year Elisabetta painted the much-acclaimed mural titled ‘The Affair’ featuring the portraits of the Kennedys and Marilyn Monroe. You can see here: elisabettafantoneart.com. The mural was featured in a Bacardi Commercial.

Her recreations of the images of iconic figures are widely popular, and are often acknowledged by the subject of her pieces!

CalvinCharlesGallery5This Italian-Canadian talent has accomplished numerous artistic endeavors, including film and television, modeling, music, painting and literature. She has released her first book entitled “Journal intime d’une Lofteuse” and a CD. Her artistic work isn’t the only aspect of her career on the rise. The vivacious actor has been acting for over ten years. One of her most notable productions was her role as Marta in Golden Globe Awards winning feature film “Big Eyes,” directed by Tim Burton. The drama is about the awakening of the painter Margaret Keane (Amy Adams), her phenomenal success in the 1950s, and the subsequent legal difficulties she had with her husband (Christoph Waltz) who claimed credit for her works in the 1960s.

Another feature film to star Elisabetta is “Havana 57” which describes pre-revolution Havana and was filmed entirely on site in Cuba. The noir mystery was a co-production between Canada and Cuba, and touched upon the subjects of the mob, revolutions and a beautiful dancer, played by Elisabetta. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2143788/)

Next up Elisabetta is filming a lead in a new French Canadian Christmas Comedy due out in 2016

Screenshot_2015-12_ArtBaselBorn in Montreal of Italian parents she moved to Italy shortly thereafter, Elisabetta spent the first 8 years of her life in the land of Michelangelo and Da Vinci. Her passion for acting emerges at the age of 5 when she plays dress-up and starts re-enacting scenes from her favorite TV and movie roles. It is at 15 that she is cast as the lead in her first play. That role won her an award for best performance and cemented her will to become an actress.

Elisabetta is excited about her most important and upcoming role as a mother expecting her first child with an estimated due date of July 4th. Just like everything else in her life, she is determined to be the best that she can be, Elisabetta is very health conscious and is having an all-natural pregnancy with a healthy vegetarian diet. She is planning on delivering the baby in water with the help of a midwife. (No epidural or drugs). She will be breastfeeding. She and her husband are planning on raising their child vegetarian.

Will is caught off-guard and taken aback by this unexpected and unwanted visitor. No matter how hard he tries to get her to leave, Gracie isn’t backing down. Unbeknownst to Will, Gracie is suffering through issues not that different from his own.

Micay worked with writing partner, Kyle Bown, who has worked in television for the better part of a decade. He’s spent time on many shows, including Fringe, The Mentalist, Dark Blue and Moonlight before landing at Pretty Little Liars where he has co-written two episodes and a group of webisodes.

During the writing process, the duo would reference Savannah Paige Rae while watching Parenthood, imagining an actress just like her for the part of Gracie. They were pleased to be able to actually cast her!

“From the start, I knew casting would be crucial,” notes Director Katie Micay. “I needed actors who could be completely raw and vulnerable. I had worked with children in the past but never with a script with this intensity. I knew the child actor would make or break the film. And Mario Schugel was a true find who worked superbly with Savannah. It was a pleasure watching them work together, pushing each other to give 100% in take after take.”

Savannah began her career at the young age of three. Rae’s first television audition was for the hit drama series “House.” You may recognize her as the little girl who stuffed a toy monkey in her dad’s briefcase in the AT&T commercial. Early success continued to follow her and she quickly booked a role, playing the younger version of her real life sister in the film “Phoenix Falling.” Savannah’s next role was Charlotte Foster in the film “Date Night” directed by Shawn Levy, where she played the exuberant and spunky daughter of Steve Carrell and Tina Fey who go on a date night while Leighton Meister plays her babysitter. She is most known for her role as Sydney Graham on NBC’s “Parenthood.” She grew up on the show for the next six seasons. Some of her other credits include “My Best Friend’s Girl” and “Dexter” where she plays young Debra Morgan (Dexter’s Sister) in Showtime’s Emmy award winning drama. Savannah won the 34th Annual Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Television Series-Leading Young Actress for her work on “Parenthood.” Her most recent role was Winnie on Grey’s Anatomy on a pivotal episode where Derek Shepherd dies.

The Firefly Girls evolved as we were writing it, into a very personal journey for Kyle and me,” notes Director Katie Micay. “It started out as a whimsical fairy tale similar to “Edward Scissorhands” that revolved around a misunderstood man living in the ‘scary’ house all the neighbors avoid. A young girl (who is also an outcast among the kids at school) pushes herself into his house, and world, while selling cookies. Together they bond based on their similarities.”

Katie Micay graduated from Loyola Marymount University’s film production program. Her first short film, For Love, created at New York Film Academy’s summer program at age 14, is nearing 4,000 hits on YouTube. Her short film Limited Engagement was an Official Selection for the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival and got an Award of Merit at Women’s Independent Film Festival. She also received a nomination for Film Outside The Frame, LMU’s annual student awards and film festival, for her writing. Her second film My So Called Family was an Official Selection for Bel Air Film Festival. Her most recent short film, Flirt, was an Official Selection for the Reality Bytes Film Festival, and she is currently developing it as a feature.

Katie loves to draw from personal experience when creating a story. My So Called Family was a loose, comedic telling of when her great aunt passed away the week of her grandson’s Bar Mitzvah. Don’t worry, this aunt was a stand up comedian and would have enjoyed the film! She and her friend’s experiences in college inspired Flirt. The Firefly Girls started out as a cute, whimsical story but quickly developed into something very personal. It has helped her process the sudden passing of her aunt.

COMEDIAN DARRYL LENOX LAUNCHES ‘THE 20/20 TOUR’ FOLLOWING THE SUCCESS OF ‘BLIND AMBITION’ COMEDY SPECIAL ON STARZ NETWORK

Screen Shot 2016-02-22 at 8.32.49 PMSeth Rogen credits Darryl for influencing his comedy. Appearances on ‘Conan’ and
‘WTF with Marc Maron highlight this In-demand Comedian

The 2016 20/20 Tour kicks off AT LAFFLINES IN NEW WESTMINSTER MARCH 18 & 19TH

In demand American stand-up comic DARRYL LENOX is kicking off a 2016 North American tour this spring called ‘The 20/20 Tour.’ The success of his ‘Blind Ambition’ album and hour-long television special of the same name brought Lenox tremendous exposure and introduced many to his unique ‘insights’ as well as his keen, comedic sense of observation into how we live our lives.

DarrylLenox-SmilingLaunching ‘The 20/20 Tour’ in the Greater Vancouver area is no accident, the city has had a big impact on both his eyesight and his comedy. Not only did he have a risky surgery in Vancouver that helped to restore some of his sight, but he filmed his first feature television special ‘Blind Ambition,’ at the Vogue Theatre, and lived in the city for several years early in his career while honing his stand-up. It was during those years that Lenox met a talented teenager named Seth Rogen, who recently gave credit to Darryl for his start in comedy on the WTF with Marc Maron Podcast: “I remember, this guy named Darryl Lenox he was great, he would do comedy and was a very big supporter of mine and was super friendly to me and would invite me to open for him sometimes when he would do shows. Such a good guy he was the one who told me, ‘you have to write jokes about you, you’re not writing jokes about yourself.’ And it was around then that we started writing “Superbad,” which was literally about all that stuff.”

Since ‘Blind Ambition’ was released on Stand Up! Records, and the television special was picked up by Starz as the first hour-long stand-up special the network had ever aired, Lenox has been featured on an episode of the hit podcast WTF with Marc Maron, and has appeared on ‘Conan’ on TBS to rave reviews. With the launch of ‘The 20/20 Tour,’ several comedy related projects in the works, and more ambition than ever, the vision-impaired comedian shows no signs of slowing down. “I don’t think I’m anywhere near my capabilities. There is so much I want to do. I’ve been at this for a long time, but in many ways, I feel like I’m just getting started.” The Darryl Lenox 20/20 Tour kicks off in Greater Vancouver at Lafflines March 18th & 19th, and also of note, Darryl will be appearing as part of the “Best of The Fest” gala at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival on April 9th. More North American tour dates to be added soon.

Darryl is available for interviews and photographs upon request.

Comedy reviewer Chris Milea took note of that very thing in a review of Blind Ambition, writing, “While introspectioninducing big picture stuff is certainly brought, it must be clear: Lenox is so remarkable in transition and planning that this set is loaded with jokes!”

Critic Ed Placencia recently reviewed Blind Ambition and wrote, “In a world of Michael Baystyle standup comics who rely on explosions and CGI, it’s nice to find a Woody Allen who is more concerned with composition and character.”

Ross Munro and Robert David Duncan star in the feature film “A Legacy of Whining” – a take on Male Mid-Life Crisis

#ALegacyofWhining_EnteringWorld Premiere screening Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Vancity Theatre

Writer/Director/Producer/Actor Ross Munro is pleased to announce that his feature film “A Legacy of Whining” world premiere will screen at the Vancity Theatre at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, April 5th, 2016 in Vancouver. Ron Heaps and Maria Munro are also producers in this fun filled film.

Ross Munro and Robert David Duncan star as two high school friends who get together after many years. The ghosts of both past and present collide as two former high school friends reunite after 30 years and embark on a darkly humorous nocturnal fever dream of a journey where old emotions and resentments bubble to the surface once again. Angie Descalzi, Keilani Elizabeth Rose and Emily Haine (Fargo, Deadpool) join the boys in this hilarious romp.

“A Legacy of Whining” not only throws gasoline on the familiar cinematic trope of male mid-life crisis but also watches gleefully as it sits back and throws a lighted match onto the proceedings. Inspired by its love of early 1970’s American buddy films, this shaggy dog comedy (played out in one desperation-soaked dreamlike evening) tells the tale of two former high school friends, Mitch (Ross Munro) and Dunc (Robert David Duncan) who reunite thirty years later in an attempt to resurrect the faded corpse of their “glory years” only to find, perhaps, that the past ain’t all it’s cracked up to be… “A Legacy of Whining” is really funny!”- The Movie Waffler.com

#ALegacyofWhining_Bordello13A labor of love A Legacy of Whining” was shot in Vancouver, Canada from March to August in 2014 with post-production completed in June 2015. Locations for the film included YVR’s South Terminal, a downtown coffee shop while studio sets and green screen sequences were also constructed and shot at Cineworks Studio in Vancouver as well as Can Am Studios in Burnaby. “A Legacy of Whining” was shot digitally using a Canon 5D camera.

Ross Munro is the Vancouver, BC, based writer/director/actor/ of “A Legacy of Whining” as well as the critically acclaimed feature “Brewster McGee”. His last short documentary “Broken Palace” debuted at last year’s prestigious Vancouver International Film Festival and other festivals. Ross’s creative endeavors include the creation of several feature film scripts as well as having recently trained as an actor under acting coach Frank Cassini and at The Actor’s Foundry in Vancouver.

Ross specializes in creating character-driven, edgy movies with an extreme vision and his influences include a mix of past and current filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Jim Jarmusch, Luis Bunuel, and PT Anderson to name but a few. Also, 1970’s American buddy movies and comedy greats Monty Python occupy a big inspirational piece of his creative heart. Ross’s wife, Maria, whom he’s been married to for the last seventeen years, is also a cherished producing partner in his film company as well as in life.

Maria Munro grew up in Caracas, Venezuela where she discovered her passion for visual arts and films at a young age. She is an independent film producer based out of Vancouver, BC. In 2014 she produced the short documentary “Broken Palace.” She produced the music video “The Snotty Punks”. Maria served as Producer, Art Director and Costume Designer

“A Legacy of Whining.” Ron Heaps is a graduate of the prestigious Vancouver Film School and was a producer/cinematographer on “Broken Palace” and “A Legacy of Whining.”

Ross, Maria and Ron plan to continue to produce films and grow into a fiercely creative and financially successful production entity with an unwavering mission statement towards the creation of exciting and entertaining independent features, documentaries, and television projects.

Ross Munro is available for interviews upon request. For press pass to attend the screening please contact:
