Award Winning Actor Gabrielle Rose plays Aunt Ida in the critically acclaimed feature film MAUDIE starring Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke that opens in New York on June 6th

Gabrielle just completed four roles in Jessie nominated Angels in America Part One- Millennium Approaches

One of Canada’s most respected actors with over 160 film and television credits, Gabrielle Rose is very proud of her role in the feature film Maudie. Gabrielle has been invited to attend Maudie when it opens at AMC Lowes Theater in Lincoln Square on June 6th. The film has received overwhelming success in film festivals world-wide and in theatres across Canada. In Maudie Gabrielle plays Maud’s Aunt Ida. The film stars Sally Hawkins (Happy-Go-Lucky, Blue Jasmine) and Ethan Hawke (Before Midnight, Training Day, Boyhood). It is a female driven production, with Irish Director Aisling Walsh, written by Sherry White and produced by Mary Young Leckie, Mary Sexton, Heather Haldane and Robert M Cooper. Maudie is an iconic Canadian story about a female folk artist.

With unforgettable performances by Academy Award® nominees Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke, this Irish-Canadian co-production is based on a true story, of an unlikely romance in which the reclusive Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke) hires a fragile yet determined folk artist Maud Lewis (Sally Hawkins) to be his housekeeper. Maudie, bright-eyed but hunched with crippled hands, yearns to be independent to live away from her protective family (Aunt Ida) and she also yearns, passionately, to create art. Director/Writer/Actor/Producer James Hutson nominated for Best Direction in a Motion Picture at the Leo Awards for the gritty feature film ‘Dark Harvest’

The Leo Awards will take place on June 4th at the Hyatt Hotel in Vancouver

James Hutson, the writer/director/producer and star of Dark Harvest, a gritty marijuana murder-mystery film also starring Cheech Marin, is thrilled to be nominated for Best Direction in a Motion Picture at the upcoming Leo Awards. The awards, celebrating the best in BC film and television, will take place this Sunday, June 4th at the Hyatt Hotel.

Dark Harvest is an award-winning festival circuit gem that chronicles the end of illegal marijuana and the subsequent fallout for two growers and a cop on a mission. The long list of awards received by the indie film include: Best Picture (Columbia Gorge International Film Festival, New York City Cannabis Film Festival, and Oregon Independent Film Festival), Best Dramatic Feature (Audience Choice) and Best Canadian Feature at the Edmonton International Film Festival and Best Thriller at the Oregon Independent Film Festival, to name a few.

The film is set to be released internationally on iTunes, VOD, and SVOD in Canada and the US in September, and will have a theatrical release in Vancouver, Toronto, California, Texas, Colorado and Oregon.

Hutson was inspired to write Dark Harvest while working at a former acting gig that involved acting out scenarios for the Vancouver Police Department to train new officers. While on the job, he would ask veteran cops to share stories with him. After hearing about a drug bust that went sideways, the story for Dark Harvest began to brew in the filmmakers mind. The film was then cast with an ensemble of award winning actors that bring years of experience and engaging performances to the project.

The feature stars an impressive cast, including James, Hugh Dillon, Tygh Runyan, Bernie Coulson, Alan C. Peterson and Cheech Marin.

Dark Harvest follows the struggles of two growers and a suspended narcotics officer as they deal with a series of murders on the eve of marijuana legalization. When Carter Holmes (Hutson), a veteran marijuana grower determined to retire, is robbed of a quarter million dollars worth of weed, he goes against the advice of his mentor (Cheech Marin; Up in SmokeDesperado) and seeks out a legal medical cultivation license to secure an income stream. Violent crimes, murders shrouded in mystery, and a race to find who is responsible, leads Carter to work with an unlikely partner to survive.

The movie, which takes audiences on a dramatic, 87-minute ride, was shot in Vancouver, Toronto, Cuba and Mexico.

Big Year for Actor James Clayton who appears on two Network TV shows, ‘Timeless’ & ‘The 100’, and is the lead in three features films: ‘Candiland’ ‘Residue’ and ‘Down the Line’

James will appear on CW’s ‘The 100’ in the May 17 episode, “The Chosen”

Hard work is paying off for Actor/Producer James Clayton in 2017, as he appears in two Network TV shows and is the lead in three feature films out this year. James appears in the May 17th episode of The 100 entitled ‘The Chosen’. In February, James also appeared on NBC’s Timeless as President Theodore Roosevelt. He is the first actor to play this role since Robin Williams in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb in 2014.

James stars in three feature films being released this year- CANDiLAND, Residue and Down the Line. In CANDiLAND, he plays the lead character of Peter, alongside Gary Busey (who plays Peter’s estranged father Arnie) and Chelah Horsdal (in the role of Tess, the object of Peter’s attention), in a story of intensified mutual attraction to the point of deadly obsession. James lost 55 pounds for the role dropping from 185 lbs to 130 lbs in a span of just 8 weeks. The film is available now in North America on DVD, VOD, digitally, and will appear on Netflix later this year. It is distributed by Viva Pictures and IndustyWorks Studios. Select theatrical screenings are set for this year with an ‘uncensored cut’.

CANDiLAND is the winner of a number of Film Festival Awards. James won Best Actor Award at the IndieFest Film Awards 2015 and at the Los Angeles Independent Film Awards 2016. And, as a producer, CANDiLAND won Best World Premiere 2016 Julien Dubuque.

James is also the lead in Residue, which tells the story of private investigator Luke Harding (James Clayton) who reads a book of sinister origins owned by a seedy crime lord Mr. Fairweather (Matt Frewer). Unbeknownst to Luke, the book is a much sought after supernatural artifact and Fairweather’s greatest rival, the enigmatic Mr. Lamont (William B. Davis) begins pursuit of Luke with his most truest henchmen Boston & Jacob (Costas Mandylor).

The film will be released on July 18th, 2017 by XLrator Pictures & IndustryWorks Studios in North America in select theatres, as well as on VOD, digitally, and then on to Netflix later in the year. The film went into production close after wrapping CANDiLAND, so James had to regain his weight and add muscle mass. He built himself up from the 130 lbs to 190 lbs for this film.

In an ensemble cast, James is joined by Taylor Hickson (Deadpool, Twilight Storytellers: The Mary Alice Brandon File), Costas Mandylor (Saw Franchise, The Pledge, Picket Fences), Gemini Award nominated Matt Frewer (Orphan Black, Watchman, Max Headroom), Elysia Rotaru (Arrow, Girl House, Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Blaine Anderson (Scary Movie 4, Final Destination 5, Hot Tub Time Machine) and William B. Davis (The X Files, Continuum, The Tall Man). Residue is written and directed by Rusty Nixon.

In the psychological thriller Down the Line, set to be released digitally in Canada this summer, James plays nine different lead characters. In this film, a struggling comedian (James Clayton) wakes up trapped inside his mind and must fight alternate versions of himself to escape.

Later this year, James will be acting and producing the action/thriller High Caliber. Ex-Cop Charlie Rooker wakes up chained to a time bomb in an abandoned warehouse and must assassinate five crime lords for his captor before time runs out. Using the high caliber sniper rifle provided to him, Rooker must complete his task, save his wife, and bring his captor to justice before detective Andrews tracks him down. Additional cast will be announced in July.

James’ impressive list of past credits include his appearance in two episodes of Fox TV’s Minority Report, a starring role in the caper comedy Foodland, a supporting lead role in the horror feature Adam & Evil, a lead role in the thriller feature The Bentley Box, and a project that honed his comedic skills, leading in the head-banger comedy Black Bridge. Small screen credits include appearances on the hit CW series Supernatural and Fox’s Fringe. Clayton began his acting career at the age of sixteen when he booked his first role in K19: The Widowmaker, starring Harrison Ford and directed by Kathryn Bigelow.

In addition to his successful acting career, James is a busy producer with Motorcycle Boy Productions, an independent film production company based in Vancouver, BC. He has produced CANDiLAND, Residue and Down the Line with his producing partners Rusty Nixon and Blaine Anderson. They are currently in pre-production with their fourth film, High Caliber.

James is available for interviews upon request.

“David Sancious’ Treehouse Concert was a much needed oasis of inspiration for me. The intimacy of the setting, David’s heartfelt interaction with the audience, and the utterly transcendental space his music opens up made this a completely unforgettable experience for me.  I did not want it to end.  During these utterly crazy times on planet Earth, we all need these kinds of reprieves from density of daily life. We all need to plug into source of all inspiration, no matter what form it takes.   David, quite simply, is the Pied Piper of keyboards — a totally in-the-moment Master of letting music play him.” M.D. – New York

Teen Actor William Ainscough nominated for two Leo Awards

William is nominated for his lead performance in ‘Milton’s Secret’ and supporting performance in ‘The History of Love’

Teen Actor William Ainscough is thrilled to be nominated for two Leo Awards for two of his stellar on-screen performances this year. The Leo Awards will be presented at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Sunday, June 4, 2017 in Vancouver, BC. Up against actors over twice his age, William is nominated for Best Lead Performance by a Male in a Motion Picture for his starring role as Milton in Milton’s Secret, opposite Donald Sutherland. William is also nomination for his role in The History of Love, for Best Supporting Performance by a Male in a Motion Picture.

Both films were shot in 2015, making it a busy year for William. He completed principal photography on Radu Mihaileanu’s sweeping epic, The History of Love, an adaptation of Nicole Krauss’ 2005 book of the same name. William plays Bird Singer, a preoccupied, strangely serious child who is convinced he is a “lamed vovnik,” one of the thirty-six holy people, and perhaps even the Messiah.

Later that year, William completed principal photography on the feature film Milton’s Secret, an adaptation of Eckhart Tolle and Robert S. Friedman’s book. William plays 12 year-old Milton Adams, who is growing up in an uncertain world. Milton feels as if his whole world is in crisis- his parents are stressed about their careers and finances and Milton is being bullied at school. However, when his Grandpa Howard (Donald Sutherland) comes to visit, he discovers anxiety about the past and worrying about the future only make things worse and prevent him from finding true happiness moment to moment. Milton’s Secret premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival, in the fall of 2016.

Following in his parent’s footsteps (Nicole Oliver, actress; Chris Ainscough; composer/film editor), William is making a serious impression in the entertainment industry. It was after watching his mother in action during visits to the sets of some of her film projects that William’s interest in the acting world began. Nicole inspired him to try acting for himself and he began taking classes.

It was clear after booking his first two auditions that acting for William was a path well chosen. William’s very first attempt at acting was a success, when he landed his first audition in an open casting call for the feature film Hidden. William was successful in landing the role of Joey, a slightly shy and soulful boy and close friend and neighbor of Zoe’s (Emily Alyn Lind). The feature film, which follows a family hiding in a bomb shelter after a mysterious outbreak devastates civilization, stars Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood, Battleship) and Andrea Riseborough (Oblivion, Never Let Me Go), and was directed by The Duffer Brothers.

William soon followed that experience with playing Billy on the CW/City TV series Seed for two seasons. William received many award nominations for Seed, including a 2014 Leo Award nomination for best performance in a Comedy, Variety or Musical and his 2013 Actor nomination for the ‘BEST NEWCOMER’ category for the UBCP/ACTRA Awards. William also won the Joey Award in 2014 for best leading role youth actor (9 and under) in a TV series Comedy/Action.

Other recent highlights for William include playing the iconic role of John Darling in ABC’s Once Upon a Time, a major supporting role in Zapped, the television feature for the new Disney Channel starring US pop music sensation and actor Zendaya, a guest star role in The Haunting Hour, and a supporting role in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries original program The Christmas Secret.

William is currently recording the second season of the award-winning PBS animated series Ready Jet Go, providing the voice for the character Sean. Aside from acting, William is an accomplished drummer, loves rugby, and is a huge fan of the online game Ark Survival.

Mayor Gregor Robertson declares May 8th, 2017 as official “Run for One Planet Day” in the City of Vancouver

Run for One Planet Ambassador Matt Hill celebrates by granting another
Green Dream

After completing an 11, 000 mile run across Canada and the United States, inspiring children across North America to take one action for the health of themselves and our planet, the original Run for One Planet Day was declared at the completion of Matt Hill and Stephanie Tait’s incredible journey in 2009.

On May 8th, 2017, Run for One Planet Ambassador, voice over actor, TED X speaker, and 8-time Ironman, Matt Hill, will continue his Run for One Planet mission, as he runs/walks around metro Vancouver from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.to commemorate the special day. In line with the “Top Ten Action Steps Challenge” –one step at a time, one hour at a time, Matt will be posting to social media each hour as he works his way through the list. To keep up with Matt’s journey—or join in the walk/run—you can follow him on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for hourly updates.

Matt’s mission to run to make a difference was inspired by his childhood hero Terry Fox, so there is nowhere more fitting for Matt to begin and end his 12-hour Run for One Planet Day celebration than the Terry Fox Memorial at BC Place Stadium.

Every year, the day is marked by announcing the annual recipient of the Green Dream grant, awarded through a partnership with the R41P Legacy 4 Kids Fund and the Vancouver Foundation. Matt will be announcing this year’s recipient of the $1800 grant, which allows kids to implement their green initiatives to better the environment, on May 8th.

The Run for One Planet dream of educating and empowering today’s generations to be “Fit Kids on a Fit Planet” has affected countless children across the continent. From May 2008 to May 2009, Matt and Stephanie ran a marathon each a day, inspiring over 50,000 kids in 220 school presentations around the continent, to take small daily steps to improve our planet and their long term health.

This inspirational project has even been recognized by the Governor General of Canada, with Matt recently being honoured as a recipient of the Governor General of Canada Meritorious Service Medal.

Matt has taken his platform (which began as the voice of the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character Raphael, and has since included a role in Dino Trux, and that of a Care Bear), to reach children and motivate them to lead healthy lives and help our environment.

Matt continues to be a busy voice over performer, runner and motivational speaker, who inspires people to believe in the power of a dream and the Hero inside us all – capable of more than we ever thought was possible from ourselves, while choosing an active and healthy life to protect our environment.
