Magnetic actor Teach Grant stars in ‘Once There Was a Winter’, premiering at the Vancouver International Film Festival

Teach also has two recurring roles on Netflix’ Altered Carbon and USA’s Damnation

Known for his depth, gritty style and onscreen presence, actor/writer/director Teach Grant is busier than ever with a starring role in a feature film and two recurring roles on television. Premiering at VIFF 2017, Teach stars in Once There Was a Winter (aka Winter), a full-length psychological thriller written and directed by Ana Valine (Sitting on the Edge of Marlene). Produced by Lori Lozinski and Seanna McPherson, this role reunites Teach with Juan Riedinger (The Romeo Section), as his brother, and also stars Kate Corbett.

Once There Was a Winter is the story of the Canadian North’s unforgiving nature, amplified to chilling effect in this claustrophobic, white-knuckle thriller. This northern tale takes unseemly turns when a young woman working as a welder’s helper finds herself in over her head with three men in a secluded doublewide trailer. A guilty secret, a grudge between brothers and a secret relationship are all revealed, muted at first, but more menacing as the night wears on. Wolves, booze, and guns fuel this psychological powder keg.

Teach plays the role of The Welder, a blue-collar worker, who is emotionally intelligent, inherently kind and observant. His relationship with his brother, Hunter, is tainted with guilt about an incident a year ago. He is physically strong and potentially dangerous, in a quiet way.

Grant’s natural gift for acting has helped him become a fixture in the film and television landscape, where has amassed an impressive list of credits that include many leading roles in film, series guest star roles and recurring television appearances.

On Netflix’s Altered Carbon, Teach has a heavy recurring guest-star role as Jimmy DeSoto. The new series will debut on Netflix in 2018. For this role, Teach had to train extensively in the gym. Altered Carbon is a futuristic drama series based on Richard Morgan’s award-winning 2002 cyberpunk sci-fi novel of the same name. The series is produced by Skydance Television and stars Joel Kinnaman, James Purefoy and Martha Higareda.

Teach also has a juicy recurring role on the new USA Network series Damnation, which will air this October. An epic saga about the secret history of the 1930s American heartland, Damnation centers on the mythic conflict and bloody struggle between big money and the downtrodden, God and greed, charlatans and prophets.

From Universal Cable Productions and Netflix, Damnation is executive produced by Tony Tost (Longmire), James Mangold (Logan), Guymon Casady (Game of Thrones) and Daniel Rappaport (Office Space) on behalf of Entertainent 360. The pilot for the series was written and created by Tost and directed by David Mackenzie (Oscar nominated Hell Or High Water).

Teach also has a recurring role in the upcoming season of SYFY’s Van Helsing, slated to air this fall. Recently Teach has appeared as a guest star on Lucifer (reuniting with Rush co-star Tom Ellis), The Flash, Once Upon A Time, Zoo and Supernatural (reuniting with Devour co-star Jensen Ackles), as well as the feature Braven, with Jason Momoa. He was also happy to work with creator/director Chris Haddock on another stellar role on CBC’s The Romeo Section.

As a writer and director, Teach released his first feature film Down Here in 2014, a film that chronicles missing young street workers in Vancouver’s downtown eastside, starring Dean Wray and Tantoo Cardinal. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Teach Grant moved to Vancouver in 1996 after University, studying at both Carleton (Psychology) and Ottawa U (Theatre) in order to pursue a career as an actor in film and television. After a series of black box theatre productions, Teach landed his first film audition garnering him an opportunity to cut his teeth on a leading role in the 1997 independent film Limp, opposite the late Michael Hutchence.

Teach is available for interviews upon request.

AT&T AUDIENCE Network® and Entertainment One Kick Off Production of ‘ICE’ Season 2 with Star-Studded Cast

Original series currently filming in Vancouver; moves to South Africa this October

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21, 2017AT&T* AUDIENCE Network and Entertainment One (eOne) have started production on the second season of ICE. The first five episodes are currently filming in and around Vancouver, Canada, then will move to South Africa for another five episodes in late September. eOne produces the show in association with AT&T and also controls international rights to the series.

Cam Gigandet (Jake Green), Jeremy Sisto (Freddy Green), Ray Winstone (Cam Rose), Audrey Marie Anderson (Ava Green) and Judith Shekoni (Lady Rah) will reprise their roles in the new season.

Joining the cast is Jocelyn Hudon (“Where The Sun Sets Low”) as Willow Green, with guest stars Ashley Thomas (“24: Legacy”) as Malcom Rose, Laura Vandervoort (“Ted”) as Tessa Pryor, Amy Madigan (“Gone Baby Gone”) as Diane Pierce and D.B. Sweeney (“LifeAs We Know It”) as Jeff Reardon.

Showrunner Ed Bernero (“Criminal Minds,” “Third Watch,” and “Crossing Lines”) will direct the first two episodes and serve as executive producer for the high-impact, serialized crime drama.

This season, with Green & Green gone, and both their finances and their reputations in tatters, Jake (Cam Gigandet) and Freddy (Jeremy Sisto) must find a way to rebuild – and to redeem themselves. The discovery of a magnificent rough diamond brings the promise of both, and could put the Green brothers back on top. But when Jake forces Freddy to tap into his inner demons in order to cut the stone, a chasm begins to form between the brothers. A vicious war with Cam and the ultimate showdown with Lady Rah increase the gap, threatening to drive the brothers apart forever.

Meanwhile, the death of a loved one drives Lady Rah (Judith Shekoni) to wage war on the diamond industry – from the inside. She’s determined to destroy the powerful corporate Syndicate, and establish herself as reigning Queen of the diamond trade.

Ostracized from the family last season, Cam (Ray Winstone) vows to bring down Jake and Freddy, permanently – no matter what the cost. He reverts back to his East London roots, and joins forces with his estranged son Malcolm to navigate the dangerous and extremely lucrative underworld of blood diamonds.

Cam isn’t the only one reconnecting with his past. Ava (Audrey Marie Anderson) is determined to forge her own way in the diamond industry, and provide a better life for her daughter and herself, even if it means making a deal with the one person she swore she’d never ask for help… her own mother (Amy Madigan).

Willow (Jocelyn Hudon) gets to know the grandmother she’s been estranged from and develops her first romantic interest, with surprising consequences.

And there’s a new player on the board – one with the potential to outmaneuver all of them.

CANADIAN PRODUCER RICK DUGDALE TAKES ON MAJOR FILM PROJECTS STARRING OSCAR WINNERS BEN KINGSLEY AND SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS

Dugdale is currently shooting a film trilogy in five European Countries

Rick Dugdale, President and CEO of Enderby Entertainmentis making tremendous strides as a Canadian Producer who is entering the big leagues of movie making, producing multi-million dollar feature films starring A-list actors, all over the world. As CEO, Rick oversees all aspects of the company’s business, finances and production, and spearheads the company’s relationships with its worldwide community of financial partners. Dugdale’s career started in his native British Columbia, where he gained extensive experience in physical production, working at all budget levels in feature film, television commercials and music videos.

Currently, Dugdale is in production in Europe on Enderby’s most ambitious project to date: Three films shot back to back, based on a series of European best sellers by the immensely popular Swedish author Håkan Nesser.  The three stand-alone thrillers, adapted by Daniel Alfredson & Ditta Bongenhielm, are stories interconnected by the Café Intrigo, which gives the three films their overall title.  The first film, Intrigo: Death of an Author, starring Ben Kingsley, has completed principal photography on location in Belgium and the Balkans.  The second film, Intrigo: Dear Agnes starring Carla Juri and Gemma Chan is shooting now; the third, Intrigo: Samaria, will begin shooting immediately, without a break.  All three films are directed by Sweden’s Daniel Alfredson (Blackway).  Dugdale, on behalf of Enderby, financed and green lit the trilogy, which will be distributed in various territories worldwide by Fox International.

Prior to the Intrigo trilogy, Dugdale produced the psychological thriller An Ordinary Man, in collaboration with actor/producer Ben Kingsley and writer/director/producer Brad Silberling. Dugdale also produced the thriller Blackway, featuring a remarkable cast, including Sir Anthony Hopkins, Julia Stiles, Alexander Ludwig and Hal Holbrook, with Ray Liotta in the title role all shot in Rick’s home town of Enderby, B.C.  Directed by Daniel Alfredson the film was feted with a gala world premiere at the 72nd Venice Film Festival ahead of its 2016 release.

Dugdale most recently produced the upcoming film NOMIS – starring Henry Cavill, Ben Kingsley, Alexandra D’Dadario and Stanley Tucci.

Previously for Enderby, Dugdale produced Dawn PatrolRosemont and About Cherry (Ashley Hinshaw, James Franco, Heather Graham, Dev Patel). For Tony-Seven Films, Enderby Entertainment’s genre film division, Dugdale served as executive producer on The Speak, Vile and 5 Souls and as producer on A Haunting at Silver Falls, No Tell Motel and Blood Shed.  Dugdale also produced Tony Seven Films’ first sequel, the upcoming A Haunting at Silver Falls 2.

In 2003, Dugdale joined Daniel Petrie, Jr. & Company as Vice President, Production before becoming a full partner in the company in 2004. Enderby Entertainment was founded after Dugdale and Petrie observed that many indie films seemed to be made for no better reason than that the resources were available. They set out to create an indie company that put the emphasis back on the story, the creative process, and transparency; and that on the financial side, could thrive. They have not only successfully reached that goal, but are now producing star-studded, high quality film projects internationally, that rival those produced by large Hollywood studios.

Dugdale is particularly proud of Enderby Entertainment’s involvement with the Austin Film Festival and Conference.  In 2012, the Austin Film Festival announced the addition of a new “Enderby Entertainment Award” to the festival’s screenwriting competition.  The new award is open to feature screenplays in all genres with an original concept and distinctive voice that can be independently produced with a budget under ten million dollars.  Finalists and winners are selected by Dugdale and Petrie.

Dugdale is a proud member of the Producers Guild of America and the Directors Guild of Canada.

About Enderby Entertainment
Los Angeles-based Enderby Entertainment most recently released the Electric Entertainment release BLACKWAY, starring Anthony Hopkins, Julia Stiles, Alexander Ludwig, Ray Liotta and Hal Holbrook and directed by the acclaimed Swedish filmmaker Daniel Alfredson.  They are currently in postproduction on AN ORDINARY MAN starring Ben Kingsley and directed by Brad Silberling, to be released later this year.  Producer Rick Dugdale and writer-director-producer Daniel Petrie, Jr founded Enderby Entertainment in 2006.

In the latest high-octane adventure in the S.W.A.T. franchise, LAPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics team (S.W.A.T.) must defend their compound from a series of assault units seeking to recover a mysterious prisoner with ties to a powerful drug cartel.

Lisa Chandler plays Phoenix, a tough S.W.A.T. officer who considers her team family members in S.W.A.T.: UNDER SIEGE. Phoenix is a “tough chick” who loves to crack the dirty jokes with the gang and stops at nothing to carry out a fully completed mission, even if that means being bold and taking one for the team. Lisa also completes the stunts for her character.

Starring Sam Jaeger (TV’s “Parenthood,” American Sniper), Adrianne Palicki (TV’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” John Wick) and Michael Jai White (Never Back Down series, The Dark Knight), S.W.A.T.: UNDER SIEGE features hard-hitting performances, hair-trigger suspense, and intense combat and gunfight sequences action fans won’t want to miss. Produced by Neal H. Moritz (Fast and the Furious series, S.W.A.T., S.W.A.T.: Firefight), S.W.A.T.: UNDER SIEGE was directed by Tony Giglio (Extraction, Chaos) and written by Jonas Barnes (Babysitter Wanted) and Keith Domingue and produced by Neal H. Moritz, Vicki Sotheran (30 Days of Night: Dark Days, Hollow Man II) and Greg Malcolm (30 Days of Night: Dark Days, Hollow Man II). Executive producer is Jonas Barnes.

From Anne Hathaway to Charlize Theron and a host of many others in-between, Lisa’s career has enabled her to work with some of Hollywood’s A-list actors. Lisa is a multi-talented performer who switches gears from stunts to acting, and incorporates the two depending on the role. In Tully, she worked with Oscar Award winner Charlize Theron where she performed water stunts. She doubled Margaret Qualley on the thriller film Death Note, as well as Elizabeth Lail on Dead of Summer.

As Vancouver stunt actor Lisa, is currently extremely busy with roles on Supergirl doubling Chyler Leigh and The Crossing doubling Natalie Martinez. Lisa plays seducer, Mary Lou Henchy, in the newly anticipated Netflix series Altered Carbon which is set in the future where consciousness is digitized and stored in cortical stacks implanted in the spine, allowing humans to survive physical death by having their memories and consciousness “re-sleeved” into new bodies.

If you have watched Once Upon a Time, Man in the High Castle, Bates Motel, Fifty Shades Darker, Britney Ever After or Aftermath, you have seen Lisa’s stunt work in action. Lisa also stunt doubled for Rose Marie DeWitt on the spine-chilling horror film Poltergeist, in which she also got to work alongside Sam Rockwell. Lisa has also been a part of many Lifetime and Hallmark films and is a regular with the Supernatural team working with Jared Padalecki and Jenson Ackles ‘fighting them and demons’ for over 17 episodes.

Lisa’s acting credits also include Lucifer, Reign, Motive, Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Lost Without You, and Random Acts of Romance, just to name a few.

Lisa’s workout is not your ordinary regimen. “As a stunt performer, training is 90% of the job and filming is 10%”, says Lisa. She trains in the water doing free-diving/scuba, film fighting, wirework, boxing, MMA and anything that challenges and prepares her for what may come. Lisa’s motto is “Anything is possible in the world of stunts so be ready”.

Lisa grew up in Kelowna, BC and Peterborough, Ontario, and now resides in Vancouver, BC.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A GROUP OF FILM SCHOOL DROP OUTS AND ONE EGO-MANIACAL DIRECTOR DECIDE TO MAKE A MOVIE, ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL SHOOTINGS?

“Shooting the Musical” to screen at the Rio Theatre June 29TH and will be released on VOD on July 14th across Canada

IndustryWorks Studios is releasing the most talked-about (or will be), controversial (definitely), laugh-out-loud (because you can’t help it) movie to come out of Canada since ‘Fubar’.

The mockumentary-style comedy “Shooting the Musical” made its first appearance to audiences at the Whistler Film festival, with rave reviews and a large following of fans that responded to the daring thematic and raw humor so rare in independent films coming out of North America, in this case, for obvious reasons.

Director Joel Ashton McCarthy, best known for his award-winning documentary Taking My Parents To Burning Man made “Shooting The Musical” with the aid of over 100 of his film school students and friends. A labor of love and a risky subject matter that may just put this indie film director on the road to success.

The premise is simple, recent film school grads resurrect a script written by their talented, fallen friend Max (Lee Shorten) as an homage to him and his adoring fans. But when the un-talented, crude, rude and completely self-absorbed Adam (Bruce Novakowski) decides to leverage the suicide of his friend for his own opportunity he re-writes the script to become a musical about a high school shooting.

The result is a comedic critic of some of societies values and its result on youth mentality. It will make you laugh out loud but it will also make you think.

Audiences loved it, proven by festival win after festival win and the recent accolade from the Toronto Film Review chosen on the awesome list of “100 best Canadian Films” by Paul Williams. On Thursday June 29th, 2017 at 9pm, IndustryWorks Studios will release the film for a Special Engagement at The Rio theatre in Vancouver. Cast and crew will be in attendance. Buy your tickets at riotheatre.ca/movie/shooting-the-musical where you can also buy a ‘super-ticket’ which includes the VOD release and download-to-own this bad boy for life.

IndustryWorks will also be releasing the movie across Canada on VOD (iTunes and Vimeo) on July 14th, 2017 (pre-buy it on July 1st, 2017).

“It is not only crude, shocking and offensive, but it is utterly and completely hilarious.” – vancitybuzz

“it’s rare that we see a project this ballsy and ambitious coming out of homegrown independent cinema” – onemovieourviews

“One of the most outrageous, offensive and laugh-out-loud comedies ever made”. – The Film Corner

Tickets are now on sale on the venue’s website: riotheatretickets.ca/events/6041-shooting-the-musical. Advance ticket is $12, $15 at the door and a a limited “Super Ticket” available $24.99 that includes a download-to-ownon Itunes, where the film is being released on July 14th.

Orphaned Bear Cubs Get a Second Chance in Animal Planet’s Touching New Original Canadian Series WILD BEAR RESCUE, Beginning June 23

– Filled with suspense, humour, and irresistible cuteness, the new unscripted Canadian series follows life at the Langen family’s unique B.C. wildlife shelter, where 40 black bear cub orphans are preparing for re-release into the wild –

Animal Planet’s new 12-part original Canadian series WILD BEAR RESCUE takes viewers to Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter in beautiful British Columbia, where Angelika and Peter Langen care for at-risk black bear cubs as they prepare for a second chance at life in the wild. Airing Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT beginning June 23 on Animal Planet and produced by Omnifilm Entertainment (JADE FEVER), the unique, homegrown series follows the family-run operation filled to the brim with a record 40 orphaned black bear cubs.

“We are excited to share the touching stories and genuine heroism behind WILD BEAR RESCUE,” said Ken MacDonald, Vice-President and General Manager, Discovery Networks. “Equal parts heartwarming and humorous, this series – produced exclusively for Animal Planet audiences – is sure to have viewers falling in love with the Langen family and their adorable bear cubs.”

(L-R:) Hungry cubs waiting to be fed by Angelika Langen; Langen cares for an injured black bear cub; a hungry black bear cub at feeding time.

Throughout the season, viewers witness heartwarming moments of a passionate “Mama Bear”, Angelika, and her husband Peter, who run the world’s only licensed grizzly bear rehab program. Together with their son Michael, daughter Tanja, son-in-law Shawn, and a few dedicated volunteers, WILD BEAR RESCUE captures the Langens working to save and care for the many sick, starving, and injured orphan cubs as they prepare to release them as strong and healthy yearlings in remote sites across British Columbia each year.

Black bear cubs are often orphaned when their mothers are struck by vehicles or poached by hunters, and the Langens’ home is full with more bears in their care than ever before. All 40 cubs exhibit distinct personalities and varying health needs, creating a huge challenge for the Langens to manage when the shelter becomes short-staffed and overcrowded.

WILD BEAR RESCUE is produced by Omnifilm Entertainment in association with Animal Planet. Executive Producers are Gabriela Schonbach and Michael Chechik. Series producers are David Gullason and Brad Quenville. For Animal Planet, Heather Williamson is Executive Producer. Ken MacDonald is Vice-President and General Manager, Discovery Networks. Tracey Pearce is President, Distribution and Pay, Bell Media.

Vancouver will play host to the premiere of the Broadway musical “City of Angels” at Performance Works from July 8th – 17th

Film Noir meets the Musical starring Michael Lomenda, Donal Thoms-Cappello
Jennifer Copping, Caitlin Clugston and Crystal Balint

This summer, Vancouver will play host to Vancouver’s Premiere of the Broadway musical “City of Angels” with a limited engagement run from July 8 – 17th at Granville Island’s Performance Works. This Tony award-winning musical comedy is homage to film noir that delightfully satirizes the glamour and decadence of 1940s Hollywood.

Putting It Together (PIT) Collective, a group of local Vancouver artists, will be performing and producing the show featuring a wide variety of talent that has appeared on Broadway, in hit TV shows and feature films. They’re proud to be part of Vancouver’s global reputation as a hub of talent and creativity.

The musical “City of Angels” takes place in Los Angeles in the late 1940s. A New York crime novelist (Stine) agrees, at the behest of a Hollywood producer, to adapt his latest novel into a screenplay but how much is he willing to sacrifice for a taste of fame and fortune?  The wisecracking and quick-witted Detective Stone has a way with women but is forever haunted by the one who got away in this musical spoof of film noir crime novels and Hollywood’s treatment of writers that is smart, swingin’, sexy, and funny.

Tony award-winning “City of Angels” moves between the beautiful Technicolor world of Hollywood and Stine’s glamorous film noir-in-progress of the same title. While Stine’s movie plays out in black and white, he finds the dangerous temptations of the world of Los Angeles – the distraction of women, the lure of fame, and the artistic compromises being made right and left – all too colorful. Witty and glamorous, “City of Angels” features a sensational jazz score, including popular songs, “You Can Always Count on Me,” “Tennis Song,” and “I’m Nothing Without You.”

Actor/Producer Christopher Shyer has assembled some of Canada’s most talented artists to bring “City of Angels” to Vancouver. Chris made his Broadway debut starring in Mamma Mia, and was part of the US National touring cast of The Book of Mormon.

Award winning actor/director/singer Jennifer Copping, a genuine triple threat, will be making her Musical Directorial Debut and tackling the dual roles of the savvy leading ladies Oolie and Donna. PIT moved mountains to bring in Michael Lomenda to play Detective Stone.  Joining the cast from Los Angeles, Michael played Nick Massi in Jersey Boys on stage and also in the film directed by Clint Eastwood in 2014. Caitlin Clugston is thrilled to play the roles of Gabby and Bobbi. Donal Thoms-Cappello will play the role of Stine, the New York Crime Novelist. Janet Gigliotti, one of the Angel City 4 is also making an appearance as Sonny. Janet just completed a successful run playing Judy Garland in the Canadian premiere of “End of the Rainbow.” Crystal Balint (Mech x4) channels her feistiest femme fatale to breathe life into the roles of Alaura and Carla. Jessie nominated Paul Herbert is playing the roles of Buddy Fidler and Irwin S. Irving, Tim Perez, no stranger to the theater, joins the cast as Lt. Munoz; while Props Master John R. Taylor will be playing Luther Kingsley. And new to the Vancouver theatre scene, young actress Miranda MacDougall joins the talented cast.

Behind the scenes the creative team includes: Co-Projection/Video Designers, Corwin Ferguson and Joel Grinke; Choreographer – Ken Overbey; Musical Director – Angus Kellett, and joining Jennifer Copping as Co-Director is Sylvia M. Zaradic.
