Actress Millan Tesfazgi celebrates her role as Sasha in the three-part series inspired by Mary J. Blige’s No. 1 hit, Family Affair. Executive produced by Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair is the third instalment of the series that began with 2023’s Mary J. Blige’s Real Love, followed by Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman. Millan’s character, Sasha, transitions from a young, wild mom into a mature young woman who embodies compassion for her sister Kendra and those around her. Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair airs on Lifetime on January 25, 2025. Parts 1 and 2 of “Real Love” and “Strength of a Woman” will also be airing in the lead-up to the premiere of “Family Affair” on that date. Family Affair, starring Ajiona Alexus (as Kendra) and Da’Vinchi (as Ben), will continue where Strength of a Woman left off. Sasha, Kendra’s older sister, may have made some mistakes in her life, but she’s a loving and compassionate sister, a hardworking mother to a 4-year-old, and would do anything for her family. Throughout each movie, you witness her evolution and emotional maturity.
“Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair” picks up as Kendra and Ben move out of the city in hopes of finally building a life together. With all their family around and inserted in their lives, tensions rise as they struggle with fertility issues, and Kendra tries to find her footing with Ben’s son, Miles. Their relationship reaches a boiling point when Ben secretly helps his brother. Kendra returns to the city, and an old friend returns to her life. The family must unite to help Kendra and Ben save their relationship and stay true to their genuine love.
“Mary J. Blige’s Real Love” follows Kendra as she goes to an HBCU in North Carolina. Kendra is determined to focus on school while balancing work-study and keeping things professional with her photo class partner.
“Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman” follows Kendra, who finds herself in a failing marriage and must deal with her life decisions. When Ben comes back into her life, she is backed into a crisis point and must dig deep to find the strength to take control of her life.
Millan also joins the cast as Jasmine in episode 10 of CBC’s hit series “Wild Cards,” airing on March 12, 2025. Jasmine is a former New York party girl and a cast member on a popular reality show. Although she appears happily married, she is madly in love with another female cast member and is desperate to keep the affair under wraps.
One of the stand-out roles Millan is incredibly proud of is Cami on Freeform’s TV series “Siren.” Millan says, “Playing this character for two seasons in nineteen episodes allowed me to evolve Cami’s story. You witness Cami becoming more intelligent and complex as the seasons progress. Cami is delicate and elfin, grappling with emotional pain yet instinctively fierce when necessary. We meet her fresh out of the water in her “human” form. “Siren” takes us inside Bristol Cove, a coastal town renowned for its legend of once being home to mermaids. When mysterious mermaids arrive, the battle between man and sea turns vicious as these predatory beings return to reclaim their rightful place in the ocean. “Siren” is streaming on Disney +.
In 2024, Millan played the role of Skyler in CTV’s “Sight Unseen.” Skyler is an obsessive influencer who, alongside her friend Amelia, has built a wildly successful social media presence known as Skymelia. Determined to reach the “Holy Grail” of ten million followers, Skyler convinces Amelia to join her on a live-streamed road trip, significantly boosting their numbers. However, Skyler is shaken when Amelia, who wishes to exit both the trip and the influencer world, turns up dead. Despite the situation, Skyler is adamant that she isn’t responsible.
Other past roles include the TV series “Supergirl,” “The Irrational,” “The Arrangement,” “Disappearance in Yellowstone” and “Amish Stud: The Eli Weaver Story.”
Millan was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, but moved to Vancouver eight years ago to pursue her acting career. From a very young age, she knew she wanted to be a performer, and she was willing to do anything to express herself on stage. She told her parents at age four that she wanted to be an actor. “It has always been a part of who I am.”
Millan is available for interviews upon request.
