World Premiere of Are We Done Now? at the Available Light Film Festival
For immediate release: Actor, writer, and director Ben Immanuel (Down River, Ganjy) is set to debut his latest feature film, Are We Done Now? at the Available Light Film Festival in Whitehorse, Yukon, on February 9, 2025. This thought-provoking dramedy explores the long-term mental health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, making its world premiere at one of Canada’s most prestigious film festivals.
Immanuel, in collaboration with Executive Producer Richard J. Lewis (Westworld, Dune: Prophecy, Barney’s Version), brings to the screen a profoundly personal story following Pamela, a therapist (played by Gabrielle Miller of Corner Gas and Unspeakable: The Murder of Jonbenet Ramsay), and her clients. Together, they participate in a documentary during the first wave of the pandemic, reflecting on its immediate effects. The narrative then jumps to 2023, exploring how the pandemic has reshaped their mental health, relationships, and roles in a rapidly changing world.
The film’s cast features an array of talent, including Favour Onwuka (Dying to Belong), Giacomo Baessato (The Good Doctor), Jennifer Spence (The Trades), Camille Sullivan (Hunter, Hunter), Elliott Ramsey (UnREAL), and Natalie Farrow (Siren). Immanuel also stars as the documentarian, offering a unique perspective on the characters’ journeys.
“This project began in March 2020, during the first lockdown when I was teaching online acting classes,” says Immanuel. “Hearing young people’s stories about how the pandemic and broader social issues impacted their mental health inspired me to bring these narratives to life. Collaborating with such talented performers has been incredibly rewarding, and I can’t wait for audiences to join us on this emotional, revealing, and sometimes humorous journey.”
Executive Producer Richard J. Lewis adds, “Ben’s collaborative writing process with his actors lends this film a rare authenticity. His previous work, Down River, deeply moved me, and I believe Are We Done Now? will be an even more poignant and disarmingly truthful film.”
Produced by Immanuel alongside Bernie Yao, Kimi Alexander, and Troy Mundle, the film features a talented creative team, including Director of Photography Emma Djwa, Editors Cindy Au Yeung and Franco Pante, and First Assistant Director Milton Ng. The project is a collaboration between Trigger Me Productions and Haven Films, with Executive Producers Jack Ong, Gosha Wen, and Yipeng Ben Lu.
Immanuel, Gabrielle Miller, and Richard J. Lewis will be available for interviews.
