Catch Grayson Gurnsey as Ricky Sudder in Virgin River Now Streaming on Netflix
Up and coming actor Grayson Gurnsey is proud of his role as Ricky Sudder in the new series Virgin River, now screening on Netflix. Centering around Melinda Monroe, played by Alexandra Breckenridge (This Is Us, The Walking Dead), a nurse practitioner who answers an ad to work in the remote California town of Virgin River and soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected. Matters get complicated when Melinda meets local heartthrob Jack Sheridan, played by Martin Henderson (Grey’s Anatomy, Shortland Street). She must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home. In his recurring role, Grayson joins Tim Matheson (The West Wing, The Good Fight), Annette O’Toole (The Punisher, Smallville), Benjamin Hollingsworth (Code Black, Cold Pursuit), and fellow Vancouverite Colin Lawrence (Riverdale, The Killing). Virgin River started streaming on Netflix December 6th, 2019.
“I hope people connect with Ricky as much as I have”, says Grayson. Ricky is a teen living with his Grandmother after the loss of his parents. Robyn Carr, author of the books, and Sue Tenney, Showrunner, have his character struggling between being a good kid and finding the confidence to make his own choices.
Grayson got to work opposite Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us, Gilmore Girls) in the feature film, The Art of Racing in The Rain released earlier this summer. His other film credits include Wonder, Godzilla, and he plays the young Davy in The Legend of Davy Crockett. Grayson’s recurring roles include Saints and Game On. He was nominated for Lead Actor in a TV Series for Game On, a Canadian YTV series. Other selected small screen appearances include Family Pictures, Garage Sale Mysteries, iZombie, Van Helsing, and Timeless.
At eight years old, Grayson was accepted to an adult-only, year-long acting-class after personally appealing to the coach by asking to be treated as a professional. Being born and raised in Calgary didn’t stop Grayson from auditioning in Vancouver, despite the 12-hour drive. As he became more established his parents bought a motorhome for when he was working in Vancouver.
Luckily, Grayson’s talents were recognized at a young age. He won a Joey Award for Lead Actor when he was thirteen for a short entitled, Lord of the Guys, that he also co-wrote. The short screened at the Action On Film Festival in California and won Outstanding Cast Performance – Short, and Best Children’s Film. His film also screened at the Reel 2 Real Film Festival where he won the Screenwriter’s Award (along with his co-writers) and the Audience Award. Grayson’s first lead role was in a short film, Bad Dad, which won Cameron Macgowan, writer/director, Best Screenwriter at the Rosie Awards.
An animal lover, Grayson has a dog, two cats and a fish to keep him company. He is now based in Vancouver and Calgary as he works on the big and small screen. When not booked, you can find him writing and directing to keep his creative juices flowing.
Grayson is repped by Eric Skinner and Kimberly Kottwitz with Brave Artists Management in Los Angeles and Maureen Goodwill with MoGood Talent Management in Vancouver, Canada. Grayson is available for interviews and photos upon request.
