Award-winning actor Emilie Leclerc joins the cast as Izadora on the new Freeform original series Motherland: Fort Salem on April 8, 2020

Motherland: Fort Salem airs on Freeform in the U.S. and ABC Sparks in Canada 

Award-winning actor Emilie Leclerc joins the cast of Motherland: Fort Salem on April 8, 2020, as Izadora, a scientist and instructor in the military. The series follows a trio of witches Taylor Hickson, Ashley Nicole Williams, and Amalia Holm are trained to become powerful weapons for the American military. Emilie has a number of scenes with Lyne Renée in the anticipated new series. Emilie’s character is introduced on April 8th. Motherland: Fort Salem airs on Freeform in the U. Motherland: Fort Salem is set in an alternate America where witches ended their persecution over 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the government to fight for their country. The series centres on three young women, following them from basic training in combat magic into early deployment. In this world, the traditional roles of gender and power are flipped, with the more dominant women on the front lines fighting looming terrorist threats that are familiar to our world—but with supernatural tactics and weapons. Motherland: Fort Salem will air on Freeform and on ABC Sparks in Canada.

Outside of her onscreen role in the new series, Emilie is an accomplished stage actor who is best-known for her Jessie nominated roles the theatre productions L’Enfant-Problème, Bonjour, là bonjourA Charlie Brown Christmas, and A Charlie Brown Holiday Double Bill.

The talented performer is also a Jessie Award Recipient in the ‘Outstanding Performance – Theatre for Young Audience’ category, shared with Zak Tardif and Vincent Leblanc-Beaudoin for Mathieu Mathématiques

Elsewhere on the small screen, Emilie has also appeared in episodes of Strange Empire (CBC).

Emilie grew up in St-Georges, a small town south of Quebec City. Fifteen years ago, she moved across the country to Vancouver to follow her childhood dream of performing and to attend theatre school.

Along with her BA in International Development Studies from McGill University, Emilie has studied at Studio 58 in their three-year theatre training program in Vancouver, and has done on-camera training with Andrew McIlroy and Ben Ratner.

Emilie is heavily involved in the theatre community in Vancouver, and keeps busy as an MC for events, as well as the French public announcer for Rugby Sevens at BC Place. She is also currently involved in a project with Association des francophones des Kootenays Ouest (Nelson) and Conseil Culturel et Artistique Francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (CCAFCB). 

The multilingual actor speaks fluent French, intermediary Spanish and is currently learning Mandarin.
