Tyson Media strikes a development deal to document Canada’s Men’s and Women’s Bobsleigh Skeleton Team for the 2026 Olympic Games

Tyson Media strikes a development deal to document Canada’s Men’s and Women’s Bobsleigh Skeleton Team as they train and compete towards the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan, Italy.

For immediate release, October 28, 2024, Vancouver, BC. – Tyson Hepburn (Rust Valley Restorers) of Tyson Media is pleased to announce that he has signed a development deal with former Olympic Medalists turned Bobsleigh Canada coaches and administrators Gold/Bronze Olympic Medalist Justin Kripps, Bronze Medalist Ryan Sommer and Bronze Medalist Lyndon Rush. Canada’s most respected multi-sport athlete and three-time Olympic bobsledder, High-Performance Director Jesse Lumsden, leads this new generation of sliding sport athletes. The documentary entitled “Redemption Run” will follow the trials and tribulations as the team competes at the North American Cup, the World Cup and the World Championships in Lake Placid, New York, as they also prepare for the 2026 Olympic Games—the fourth Olympic Games to be hosted in Milan, Italy.

Bobsleigh is the second most-watched event of the entire Winter Games. Twenty-six and a half million Canadians – more than seventy percent of the population watch coverage of the Olympic Games on CBC Television. Bobsleigh is the fourth most popular Olympic Sport in the USA and the second most popular in the UK.

The documentary’s goal for Bobsleigh Canada is to create more awareness surrounding the sport outside and leading up to the Olympic games.

Tyson Hepburn states, “There’s been a proliferation of sports documentaries, but no one has successfully covered bobsleigh from a behind-the-scenes perspective, and our team believes it’s time to shine a light on it.”

Justin Kripps adds, “Our program has undergone many changes over the past few years; with greatly reduced funding, there is more financial burden on our athletes to reach their goals in this high-performance sport. Our athletes are pushed to their limits just to be able to arrive at the start line. It’s an untold story of grit, drama, trials, and tribulations as our athletes give everything for the chance to represent Canada on the world stage.”

The documentary “Redemption Run” follows athletes who have found Bobsleigh to be a second-career sport. No one grows up wanting to be involved in bobsleigh, and the athletes come from a wide variety of other sports: football, track and field, hockey, and even swimming, and they might not have found that pinnacle in their respective sport. Now, they’ve discovered bobsleigh and have a second chance at greatness. The phenomenal speed, the competitiveness, the danger: these athletes become addicted to the sport, and we believe the rest of Canada will be enthralled by this phenomenal underdog story here.

The distribution team at Serial Maven will distribute the 90-minute feature documentary. Jamila Pomeroy (Union Street) has signed on to write and direct the production.
