Multi-talented comedian, actor, author and motivational speaker Jessica Holmes is back hosting the 2016 LOVE HER events this year in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. With live performances slated across Canada, a book on depression set to hit shelves next year, and a comedy special in the works, this Canadian funny-woman is busier than ever.
LOVE HER is an elegant evening in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada while raising awareness and crucial funds to overcome the most fatal women’s cancer. Hilarity ensues as Jessica Holmes dons the stage to host this memorable event that combines fashion, comedy, cocktails, dream getaway auctions and music.
Jessica also hosts the Winnipeg Comedy Festival Middle Age special that will air on CBC TV on February 21st at 9 pm. The Middle Ages explores the fun and not-so-fun side of mid-life in today’s society — physical breakdown, hormone changes, the appeal and terror of imminent retirement, changing technology, and how you’re viewed by the media, your family, and partner.
Jessica has opened for the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Leslie Nielsen and Ellen DeGeneres, as well as hosted events for such visionaries as Deepak Chopra, Tony Robbins, and Oprah Winfrey!
The Ottawa-born, Toronto-based comedian is a sought-after keynote speaker at high profile events across the country. Holmes’s hilarious stories and unforgettable stage presence in her motivational comedy performance about positive psychology is called “The 60 Minute Perspective Makeover”. She offers audiences her own tips and perspective on how to lead a more fulfilling and happy life through setting personal goals with her popular comedy routines, motivation and celebrity impersonations.
This multifaceted talent deepened the scope of her material by becoming a Life & Career Coach through San Diego’s Life Purpose Institute. And it doesn’t stop there! Whether it is her daily 4-minute workout from Jessica’s Healthy 5 section, learning about a subject you’re passionate about or pumping up your self-esteem by kicking procrastination to the curb, Jessica believes that small changes are the surest way to feel stronger and more passionate!
She is best known for her seven-year stint on the award winning CBC series “Royal Canadian Air Farce”. In 2002, Holmes landed her own sketch comedy show appropriately titled, “The Holmes Show”. The show featured dead-on personifications of Celine Dion, Liza Minnelli and Geri Halliwell. That same year, her musical comedy special “Holmes Alone” won the Platinum Award at WorldFest. A graduate of Ryerson University’s Radio and Television Arts program, her career exploded after stints in The Second City, Just For Laughs festival, and TV shows like “Little Big Kid” and “The Itch.”
Crowned “The It Girl of Canadian Comedy” by The Globe & Mail, Holmes has shifted her comedy from the stage to the print world as a comedy author. Her book titled, “I Love Your Laugh: Finding the Light in My Screwball Life”, – available in Canadian and American bookstores – offers readers her witty observations on everything from her hilarious take on parenthood, her eclectic upbringing by a Mormon father and feminist mother, and her experiences as a missionary in Venezuela.
Jessica shares her hilarity in everything she does, which will be evident in her soon to be released second book in the works.
