Houston Stevenson is starring in Lifetime’s sequel in the thriller film “A Predator Returns.” alongside Matthew Crawley, Leigha Sinnot, Hannah Jane McMurray, and Chris Jehnert. Directed by Colin Theys “A Predator Returns” is set on the beaches of the fictitious Hunter’s Cove when a late-night boating trip for high schooler Courtney (Leigha Sinnott) leads to an unexpected encounter with a shark and a charming mysterious savior when her normal life is turned upside down. “A Predator Returns” screenplay is written by John Doolan and will premiere Saturday, May 22nd only on Lifetime.

Houston plays Bruce a charming, observant young politician’s son who hides a violent, obsessive past under a false name. He is laying low in a lighthouse on an island, resisting exposing himself to the temptations that have led him astray in the past. However, when Courtney and her friends come to visit, he rediscovers his obsessive tendencies. He wants to complete his family and feeds the sharks around the island, which he considers to be his brothers and sisters.

Catching the eye of Filmmaker, director Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, Hocus Pocus) offered Houston a role in Disney Channel original movie “Descendants 2” as well as the third installment. Shortly after Houston was cast alongside Jesse Metcalfe on the Hallmark Channel’s “A Beautiful Place to Die: A Martha’s Vineyard: Mystery,” then 8 episodes on Netflix comedy “Project MC2” as Zach Clarke. Houston is also known for his work on The CW’s “Arrow,” “iZombie” and “Spooksville.”

After graduating high school Houston moved to London, England to study with renowned acting coach Andy Johnson. Next move to Los Angeles where he worked for producer Julia Verdin and studied with Ivana Chubbuck then back to his hometown Vancouver and studied with Mel Tuck at Rail Town Studios.

Houston currently resides in Vancouver and holds both a Canadian and US passport.

Thomas Nicholson Begin Recurring Roles in The CW’s TV Series

Canadian/Danish actor Thomas Nicholson is heading into a career highlight summer with recurring roles in The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Freeform’s Motherland: Fort Salem

Actor Thomas Nicholson has booked dream roles on two popular TV series airing in 2021. On season six of The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, he plays a younger version of a real-life legendary musician who helps the lead cast as they embark on a new quest in the upcoming season. His first episode airs on May 2nd, 2021.

Thomas also appears in a recurring role on Freeform’s Motherland: Fort Salem, when its new season airs this summer. While we can’t say much about his roles without spoilers, each of them is pivotal to the two TV series this season.

You may recognize Thomas from his work on multiple television shows, notably a recurring role on the hit Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor. In the series’ final twist, his character is revealed to be an older version of lead Miles Wingrave (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth’s character).

He has also had roles in Netflix’s Virgin River, in AMC’s The Terror, Fox’s The X-Files, Bobby Singer’s son on The CW’s Supernatural, The History Channel’s Project Blue Book, and The 100. Thomas has also played leading roles in feature films, including Jake in Project: Eugenics and Luke in Writing Kim.

Taking on the role as Remy Johnson on USA Network’s Damnation was a particular highpoint for Thomas. He is also very proud to be playing the male lead in an upcoming Harold Greenberg short film called The Day We Left, based on the true story of a young Muslim couple that managed to escape Bosnia in the early days of The Bosnian War.

An ardent supporter of independent film, Thomas co-produced and stars in the award-winning short films Fatal Rhapsody and Dog Bite written by his partner, Gemma Holdway. Fatal Rhapsody has won the Audience Choice Award at Harrogate Film Festival (UK) and Award of Commendation at Canada Shorts Film Festival. Dog Bite received the Award of Excellence at Canada Shorts Film Festival and Best Actress to Jennifer Spence at Yes! Let’s Make a Movie Film Festival as well as nominations for Best Drama at Harrogate Film Festival and Best Overall Sound at the Leo Awards. In the Crazy8s film competition, Thomas has a lead role in the film Itsy Bitsy Spider that will be screening at the Wicked Queer film festival in Boston and the Short Circuit Pacific Rim Film Festival in Victoria, BC this spring.

Thomas has kept busy since he made the decision to pursue acting professionally after completing the one-year intensive program at William B. Davis Centre at VanArts in Vancouver after he moved from Denmark. He was a journalist in Denmark but it was his mother’s horrible diagnosis with early-onset Alzheimer’s that gave Thomas the courage to throw caution to the wind and inspired him to pursue acting full time. In addition to his full-time acting course, Thomas continues to take part-time classes with many teachers across Vancouver. He is currently taking weekly scene study classes with Benjamin Ratner at Haven Studio and has a role in Ratner’s upcoming digital series Trigger Me

Thomas grew up bilingual (Danish-English) in Randers, Denmark to a Danish mother and an English father. He speaks three other languages with a strong ear for accents that have helped him book Canadian, American, English, Danish, Norwegian and Bosnian characters in front of the camera. In Denmark, he won a prestigious journalism award, the Kravling, and played bass in a post-grunge rock band called Cave.

Thomas currently resides in Vancouver, BC.

How To Choose The Best Home Theatre Seating

Nothing helps a family or group of friends to bond faster than movie night in a private space. The experience however is made or marred by a number of factors and we would discuss one of them in this article.

Many modern homeowners insist on having a well- finished and furnished home theatre in their homes. This is largely because of the convenience and comfort of only having to move from one part of the house to next for a downtime. This is in addition to the important issue of family time.

First and foremost and unarguably most important is getting the right electronics for the space. You can check out this link for tips on the right electronics for your home theatre: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/the-best-gear-for-your-home-theater/ . The next thing after you have gotten the right electronics is to get the right furniture.

Types of Home Theater Seating

There are different types of seating that you can use in your space and they include the following:-

  • Conventional Seating – This is usually what most middle class homes have and they most times would serve as the TV or movie room and the family room. It doesn’t it any way recreate the atmosphere of a proper cinema hall.
  • Theatre seating for 2 – This design is mostly for newly married couples or empty nesters that are space constrained. They can always use furniture that can be turned into a day bed which now makes the room multi-functional.
  • Authentic Cinema Feel – This is for people who love the idea of having the cinema experience without going to the movies.  The designated space is usually furnished cinema style.

These styles are a sort of summary of the ways that people may choose to delineate a space for family downtimes or movie nights.

Factors to Consider Before Buying Home Theater Furniture

This segment is meant for those who have decided to have a proper home theatre (that is a room/place that is especially dedicated to family entertainment). But before you begin to talk about the kind of seating that you would have, you need the right furniture. Therefore getting the best home theater seating for your space is dependent on the following:

The Dimension of Your Space

One key factor that you must bear in mind before making any choice is to be sure of the space that you have to work with. Home theatre furniture is usually bulky and occupies space. If you really want to have the authentic theatre feel, then you need to have enough space to work with.

Measure the room, paying attention to space for walking in between the seats and the aisle. Ensure that you have a clearance of 18 to 24 inches in front and behind each seating.

Consider the Number Of People The Room Would Accommodate

With the measurement that you have taken, you can now determine the number of people that your space can accommodate. The aisle design that we talked about above would only be feasible if you have a large room. A smaller room would mean that you would choose a different seating arrangement.

Settling these factors before shopping for furniture would save you money and the stress of moving furniture around or worse case, having to return the furniture.

Consider Your Home Décor

Do you want your home theater to be completely unique or you want it to blend into the overall décor/style of your home? When you settle that, you can go ahead to choose design, style, color or material of the furniture.

It is best that you choose a material that is easy to clean and maintain. Also look out for durable materials and styles.

Pricing

The cost of the furniture is another important factor to consider. The truth of the matter is that the amount of money that you are willing to spend would determine the quality of furniture that you would get.

That being said, we recommend that you put aside a reasonable amount to get furniture that you wouldn’t need to change in a short while.

There are many other factors that you may have to consider but we believe the above are the essentials.

Check here for innovative home theatre seating ideas.

Conclusion

There are many styles of home theater seating arrangements as well as furniture to achieve these styles.  We hope the information we shared here would add to your knowledge base as you design the home theatre of your dreams.

A star is born at Build-A-Bear.

Build-A-Bear is bringing its Honey Girls toy line into the live-action space. And if you’re going to build a feature film musical event, you might as well have a few Grammy winners on board.

Grammy winner and John Tucker Must Die actress Ashanti will star alongside digital star Tessa Brooks in Honey Girls from Build-A-Bear Entertainment, EW can report exclusively.

Production on the film will soon finish with a cast that includes Broadway actor Aliyah Mastin, recording artist Ava Grace, and Black-ish actor and singer Frankie McNellis playing the titular Honey Girls.

Music video director Trey Fanjoy — who has worked with the likes of Taylor SwiftMiranda LambertBlake Shelton, and Keith Urban — makes her feature film directorial debut based off a screenplay by Mike Mariano and Cindy McCreery.

Ashanti will star as global pop-star Fancy G, the host of a talent competition that seeks to discover the next great solo artist. Three young musicians sign up for it but quickly discover that they are “better together” — a reference to the song “Everything Is Better” written for the Honey Girls toy line. They form a secret band called Honey Girls and, with an immediate viral mega hit on their hands, perform in disguise to avoid elimination by Fancy G. In the end, the competitors must decide what is more important — fame or friendship.

“The Honey Girls story uses the power of music as a catalyst to both encourage the celebration of individuality while recognizing that we can also be ‘better together,’ wrapped in a fun girl-empowerment story of discovery,” Sharon Price John, President and CEO of Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc., said in a statement.

Ashanti was last seen on screen on an episode of the CW’s Dynastyon season 3, and she also starred in the Lifetime movie A Christmas Winter Song. Frédérik, one of Canada’s top vocal coaches, is also the language coach for the brand-new language ‘Menishe’ aka ‘Mothertongue’ written specifically for the new series

Frédérik Robert uses his incredible talent for a very unique career as the Vocal and Language Coach on television series Motherland: Fort Salem

His role on the series involves working with the actors on songs, vocal magic (the main superpower of the witches on the series) and teaching the actors the brand-new language “Menishe”, also known as Mothertongue, written specifically for the show by David J. Peterson (Game of Thrones, The Witcher, The 100) and Jessie Sams.

Motherland: Fort Salem is an American supernatural drama television series created by Eliot Laurence. The series stars Taylor Hickson as Raelle Collar, Jessica Sutton as Tally Craven, and Ashley Nicole Williams as Abigail Bellweather, who are three witches enlisted in the U.S. Army. The first season of Motherland: Fort Salem is streaming now on Hulu, Disney+, Freeform, and Amazon Prime U.S. The second season is set to air this summer on Freeform, ABC Spark (Canada) and will stream on Hulu, and Disney+.

Motherland: Fort Salem marks Frédérik’s first television series as a vocal and language coach. “I’m so proud of the success of Motherland: Fort Salem,” said Frédérik. “The show places an emphasis on diversity, mainly casting women, which I really love and appreciate. The main superpower for the witches is their VOICES aka vocal magic, which is unique to the series. The actors are all brilliant, intelligent, talented beings that are so easy to work with.”

“Frédérik has been wonderful to work with for two reasons. First, he puts in the work during the off-hours, and it shows. Méníshè is a difficult language to pull off, and Frédérik’s improvement from the first time he heard it prior to season one to now has been dramatic and noteworthy. Second, Frédérik’s willingness to work with me – and continue to work with me – has been refreshing. Most of the time I have no interaction with the dialect coach – or if I do, it’s via an introductory email. That Frédérik has been willing to work with me to get the lines down is both a comfort and a joy. And, of course, the onscreen results speak for themselves. It makes me feel a lot better about not being on set knowing that my work is in good hands,” says David J. Peterson (Game of Thrones, The Witcher, The 100), writer, Motherland: Fort Salem.

Frédérik, who was an original member of The Tenors (formally The Canadian Tenors) and founding member of Romanza – The Art of the Tenor, has vast coaching experience, working with actors and clients including Holly Deveaux (Shadowhunters), Caitlin Stryker (Clarice), Bradley Stryker (CSI: NY, Lost in Space), Nicole Maines (Supergirl) Catherine Lough Haggquist (Supernatural, The Good Doctor), Marci T House (Godzilla), Dave Faber (Faber Drive, Juno Nominee), David Beckingham (Hey Ocean! Juno Nominee), Frankie Cena (Sing On! Netflix Champion), Dorjay the Singing Shaman, and many more.

Frédérik began teaching at 18 in his studio which was filled with young acting students eager to learn. He realized early on he had a knack for working with actors. As a singer and actor his whole life, he has been part of shows in theatre, musical theatre, opera, and concerts across North America. This gave him tremendous insight into the way actors and singers think and process, and how to train the entire being and their talent. His curiosity about ‘how’ the voice works and ‘how’ to connect to the words and story have always motivated his teaching – every voice and person is unique.

After 30 years of performing, his calling changed to just focus on his teaching career. His studio had grown substantially over the 20+ years so the transition was smooth. His eclectic studio includes actors, musical theatre performers, opera singers, contemporary music artists, voices in transition, vocal rehab clients, and more. He is also on the College faculty and is the Program Coordinator for the Musical Theatre training program at the Vancouver Academy of Music.

Frédérik was born in Peace River, Alberta and grew up in Falher, Alberta – a small farming community in Northern Alberta. When he was twelve he moved to Leduc, Alberta and started with a new voice teacher, Laurier Fagnan in Edmonton. With his instruction and guidance, Frederik (at only 17) was one of the youngest singers in Canada singing supporting and lead roles with several Western Canadian opera houses.

Frédérik is a Buddhist. He practices meditation and has even led mediation classes at the College. Frédérik is a sound healer and has been featured on numerous guided meditations with Dorjay the Singing Shaman. He and his husband have been married for seven years and reside in Vancouver, B.C.
