Florence Ordesh joins TV Series Departure

Irish actor Florence Ordesh joins Archie Panjabi and the late Christopher Plummer as Rose Tait in the second season of the high-octane conspiracy TV series Departure now airing on Peacock in the U.S.

Irish actor Florence Ordesh has the leading role as Rose Tait in the second season of the high-octane conspiracy TV series Departure that follows TSIB investigator Kendra Malley, played by Emmy® Award-winner Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife). The late Christopher Plummer returns as Kendra’s mentor. Departure is a six-part event series that follows the investigation into the derailment of an experimental high-speed train, The Apollo. The brilliant investigator, Kendra Malley (Archie Panjabi), is recruited to the US to find the cause of the devastation in rural Michigan. With the eyes of the entire world on her, Kendra and her team unravel a series of interconnected threads which lead to a number of mysterious motives. Was it the tech mogul inventor of the train’s automation software? Was it a mysterious member of a Mexican drug cartel? Was it a disgruntled employee resisting new technology?  Working in conjunction with the FBI, Kendra must race to uncover the truth behind the crash and help to heal the damage caused by the terrible tragedy.

All six episodes of Departure are now airing on NBC’s Peacock in the US and will air on Universal in the UK. Season one trended #1 on Global TV in Canada. Other cast members include Jason O’Mara, Kris Holden-Ried, and Karen LeBlanc.

In the Irish feature film An Extinction, Florence gives an outstanding performance in the starring role of resilient survivor Aoife, who manages to keep herself and her younger sister Niamh safe from airborne infection. Staying one foot ahead of starvation and sickness in post-apocalyptic Ireland, her character Aoife has managed to stay alive following ‘the extinction of all human, animal, plant and bacterial life on the planet.’ Written and shot long before the current COVID-19 pandemic, “There are similarities because the screenplay is based on very realistic epidemic research and predictions.” Florence says, “The ‘freakish’ similarities between the film and the current pandemic were uncanny, all the way down to the face masks and visors.” An Extinction is currently in post-production and is set to screen at festivals in late 2021.

Florence’s first appearance on the small screen was in 2011 when she landed the leading role in the mini-series Saor Sinn o Olcfor TG4. She became internationally recognized when she was cast opposite Sarah Greene, Killian Scott and Conleth Hill as archaeologist Mel Royce in Dublin Murders, a crime drama television series created by Sarah Phelps for Starz, BBC One and RTÉ. The show was nominated for Best Drama at the IFTA Awards. She also plays Briwan in Apple TV+ big-budget original drama Foundation, starring Jared Harris and Lee Pace, In ‘Cold Courage’, scripted by BAFTA Cymru nominated screenwriter David Joss Buckley and distributed by Lionsgate Florence plays the role of Shakeela Husain.

She starred in the short film The Observation Level that won the Jury Award at Pink City International Short Film Festival, and she was featured in the short film Buy The Dip that won the Festival Prize Best Story at Top Shorts Film Festival.

Florence is set to play the lead role of an inmate, determined to escape her sentence in an upcoming jailbreak movie, currently in development.

Florence’s major contributions to the movie and television landscape can be seen through the lens of CastandHire (castandhire.ie), which she founded in 2011. The site has created a unique and vibrant space for actors and filmmakers to collaborate and educate, helping to invigorate this industry of hopes and dreams. Formerly known as Ireland Actors Guide, CastandHire is an ambitious platform that makes it much more accessible to cast actors, hire crew, learn new skills, and for professionals to promote their talent. Today, “The site is buzzing with jobs for cast & crew, and filmmakers are taking digital MasterClasses daily. It’s really exciting to see how much CastandHire has helped so many people.”

CastandHire is Irelands’ number one collaborative and educational platform, housing thousands of members’ profiles, in addition to digital MasterClasses from industry experts such as award-winning editor Benjamin Mercer and dialect coach to the stars, John Fleming. She brings her non-profit to connect actors and filmmakers delving back into the real world to help bolster the future of film, an art she holds dear to her heart.

Florence is currently a judge for five major film festivals worldwide, including The San Diego Awards and Cinequest. As a committed vegan, she is mindful of the environment and is delighted to also judge at Films of the Forrest, promoting the preservation of the rainforests around the world, including British Columbia. https://filmsfortheforest.org/

OWN picks up Talk Show ‘Face to Face with David’ 2021

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network picks up David Oulton’s Calgary based Talk Show ‘Face to Face with David’ to air on Mondays and Wednesday starting August 30, 2021

In less than a year Face to Face with David has gone from a COVID project in David Oulton’s Calgary living room, to an internationally syndicated talk show. David Oulton, an Alberta based actor, created the show as a pastime during the lockdown, and now has a new career interviewing the likes of Vanessa Williams, Carson Kressley, Perez Hilton, Margaret Cho, Natasha Henstridge and countless other recognizable names from Hollywood.

Already airing on Amazon Prime Video, OUTtv, Slice and Apple TV, the series is set to air on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network in Canada beginning August 30. The series will have a two-hour premiere beginning with the first season, and air Mondays and Wednesdays on the network at 11:00 am EST.

Initially filmed with an ultra-low budget in Oulton’s living room, the series premiered in July 2020 on Amazon Prime Video in the US and UK. Immediately receiving ratings success – still holding a 5/5 star rating in both markets – the series now airs against powerhouse names such as Ellen Degeneres and Kelly Clarkson. Face to Face with David is managing to hold its own. IMDb gives the show a rating of 8.7/10, compared to Degeneres’ 6.8, Clarkson’s 5.4, and far out rating competing Canadian series The Social (3.0/10) and The Marilyn Denis Show (4.9/10). It is also rated higher than The View and The Wendy Williams Show, proving the intimate and low-key concept of the show works against these heavily funded establishments in the talk show arena.

Each episode sees Oulton donning his now infamous Versace robe and a glass of wine to chat with his famous guests. The conversations all take a more high level approach, rather than focusing on current events, which allows the series to be viewed in any order, at any time, unique for a talk show format. Natasha Henstridge explained that Oulton, “has this unique ability to make you feel like you’ve known him for years, therefore spilling all your secrets”.

The series is created in an intentionally versatile way, which has been proven given it’s one of the only shows which airs simultaneously in a daytime, primetime, and late night timeslot, as well as streaming. From season three onward, the series is co-produced with OUTtv and airs in Canada, the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, and is expected to more than double the number of territories by year’s end.

In addition to the aforementioned, notable guests have included Corbin Bernsen, Melissa Rivers, Debra DiGiovanni, Ali Landry, Caroline Stanbury, Manjit Minhas, Amanda Tapping, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Gretchen Carlson, RuPaul’s Peppermint, Fortune Feimster, Josh Flagg and others.

The series is produced by Calgary based production house L&C Style Inc, and directed by Candace Schmidt.

David is available for interviews upon request.

Steven Roberts Wins a 2021 Leo Award

Steven Roberts wins the 2021 Leo Award for Best Supporting Performance by a Male in a Motion Picture for his riveting role as Fresno in the feature film River Road

Steven’s life experiences have shaped him to bring intensity to his characters

Steven Roberts’ recent 2021 Leo Award win for Best Supporting Performance by a Male in a Motion Picture for his outstanding performance in the role of Fresno in the feature film River Road tops off being nominated three years in a row. His character is a heroin dealer who has a menacing presence that can explode any second after he is ripped off by a rock musician played by Cody Kearsley (Riverdale) and a free-spirited woman on a warpath of drug addiction and crime. Director/writer/producer Rob Wiley just announced that River Road will have a limited theatrical release in the fall being distributed by Four by Three in the USA and Greystone Pictures in Canada to be followed by a VOD release.

Steven’s other Leo Award nominations are for the feature films In God I Trust in 2019 and Beyond The Woods in 2020, for Best Performance by a Male in a Motion Picture where he plays an intense man with mental health issues who accidentally kills his wife. In 2019 he won the UBCP/ACTRA Award for the Best Emerging Performer and was nominated for Best Actor at the UBCP/ACTRA Awards the following year. He has also received a number of film festival nominations including Vancouver and Edmonton and won the Best Actor Award at The LA Crime and Horror Film Festival alongside Linda Hamilton who won Best Actress the same year.

LEO AWARDS President Walter Daroshin congratulated Steven, “Your last three performances were amazing. The character Fresno in River Road was so intense that it bordered on documentary profile – it was so real. A resounding bravo from the jury.”

In addition to his nominated roles, he has an impressive resume in television series and feature films, Steven made his big-screen debut playing the teacher in Academy Award nominee Jason Reitman’s 2018 Golden Globe nominated film Tully, starring Charlize Theron.  He credits Chris Haddock for giving him his first recurring role in the TV series Romeo Section. Other TV roles include Once Upon A Time and IZombie. He has also had a number of award-winning Short film credits including Cakeday, Velvet Cut, Best Laid Schemes, SIC, Clinch, and Fatal Rhapsody.

The most prolific moment for Steven’s journey to becoming an award-winning actor was a chance encounter with the great late Robin Williams turned into an impromptu scene study and coaching session that changed the direction of Steven’s life. He had just joined his first acting class that happened to have him working on a scene from “Good Will Hunting.” Robin walked with him to a park where he coached Steven for an hour giving him the confidence to forge ahead with his acting career. At the time Steven was going through a painful time in his life and was very guarded. There was something about Robin’s softness and playful side, which made Steven open up. Robin encouraged him saying, “You can do this. You should do this. You are meant to do this!” “Every time I’m told I’m too intense, or I’m too tall, or too short or not good looking enough, I remember his words,” adds Steven.

Steven enjoys playing intense, damaged, and controversial characters. He has endured shooting films in 40 degrees below zero carrying his co-star through deep snow, blistering heat in the desert with a rattlesnake and scorpion. He has lost weight, gained weight, shaved all his hair on screen, and taken on physical challenges for roles that would scare off most others.

Steven believes in giving back. He has spent years working on Vancouver’s Downtown East-side as a support worker/advocate with the homeless and recovery-based organizations. He grew up in foster care and homeless on and off the street. Helping others has become a great teacher for him. He is currently writing a memoir about his experiences titled ‘The Extraordinary Tales of Surviving Boyhood.’ Acting and writing have furthered his passion for helping people by having the ability to have a voice for those who don’t get to speak up for themselves.  Finding empathy for every character or person, no matter how ‘lost,’ ‘dark,’ or ‘mean’ they appear on the surface has helped him become the man and actor he is today.

Born in Ontario Steven has lived on both the east and west coast and everywhere in between.  He currently resides in Vancouver with his fiancée actress Veronika Hadrava who he also credits for making him better at his craft.

Steven is available for interviews upon request.

And catch Camille on Hallmark’s Ships In The Night: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery on Sunday June 20th

As Nick’s mother, she joins Candace Cameron Bure (Full House) who returns as crime-buff and bride-to-be in Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Til Death Do Us Part, the latest installment in the hit mystery franchise premiering Sunday, June 13 (8 p.m. ET/PT), on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries along with returning co-star Marilu Henner (Taxi) and Lexa Doig (Andromeda) in the US.

“What a pleasure to work with this cast and production team that feels like such a family. During Covid so many weddings have been postponed or shrunk to a party of 10 so it was a real joy to be on set at the Hallmark wedding of my TV “son” in such fabulous company – and just enjoy the celebration!,” beamed Mitchell.

Just days before Aurora’s wedding, a body is discovered, and she fears her father may be a suspect. She and Nick race to solve the cold case before they walk down the aisle.

Murder mystery fans can also catch Camille in Ships In the Night: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery  on Sunday June 20th on the Hallmark Channel in her 2021 Leo Award nominated performance as Lila Winchester opposite Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives).  When Lila Winchester’s art gallery is robbed and leads to the death of the contemptible gallery manager, a former Boston detective teams up with a local doctor–and old flame– to catch the killer.

Camille has been a working actress since she was 19. She grew up surrounded by the entertainment industry. Her father was Hollywood star Cameron Mitchell (My Favourite Year, High Chaparral, How to Marry A Millionaire) so she knows what the business is all about.  And nothing seems to slow her down – not even the pandemic. While many actresses leave their profession once they are a ‘certain age’, that hasn’t stopped Camille who continues to work consistently embracing her age in the tradition of other working veteran actresses. She also embraced a positive attitude during the Covid shut down to use this time to explore her culinary skills exploring new recipes and eating healthy. Her last trip to Italy she took lessons from celebrated chefs, which has motivated her family’s homemade pasta events. Her brother Cameron Mitchell Jr (Hollywoodland), son Charlie-Joe Mitchell (Altered Carbon); niece Jinjara Mitchell (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) and nephew Jordan Connor (Riverdale) are all in the business.

Earlier this year Camille took on the intriguing role of her Leo Award nominated role as Lila in Ships in the Night: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery airing on the Hallmark Channel alongside Jesse Metcalfe and Sarah Lind. As part of the Hallmark 2020 Christmas movie line up, Camille plays Martha Munro in A Glenbrooke Christmasalongside Amber Reeser and Antonio Cupo.

Camille joins her talented actor friend Jerry Trimble (Chesapeake Shores, iZombie) in the short film The Architect’s Dream directed by Francesco Papetti which will hit the festival season once it opens up.

You can also catch Camille in her recurring role as Rosie on Netflix’s dramedy, The Healing Powers of Dude. When an 11-year-old boy with social anxiety disorder must start middle school, he finds strength in a lovable comfort mutt named Dude. As a dog-owner all her life, Camille adopted Ginger from the downtown Los  Angeles Pound and is no stranger to the healing powers of canines.

Feature film ‘Thunderbird’

The feature film Thunderbird deals with racial tensions as it takes a deep dark descent into the desperation of searching for a missing family member set against the rugged beauty and danger of the Pacific Northwest.

Starring Colten Wilke, Natalie Brown, Julain Black Antelope, Aaron Douglas, and William Belleau Thunderbird is available on Amazon Prime Video in the US and UK on June 4, 2021 and on Vimeo On Demand in Canada

Ocean Twilight Films is pleased to announce that their feature film Thunderbird will be available on Amazon Prime Video on June 4 , 2021. Thunderbird stars Colten Wilke in his first starring role, Natalie Brown (Sophie, Clarice, The Strain, Dark Matter), Julian Black Antelope (Tribal, The Secret History of – The Wild West, Into the West), Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica, Van Helsing, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) and William Belleau (Blackway, Killers of the Flower Moon, Van Helsing). Written, directed, and edited by Nicholas Treeshin (Tricked, Worst to First, Border Security) is directing his first feature film. Producers Michael Morrison, Colten Wilke, Gabrielle Adelman, and Ben Plamondon bring this story about the fear of the unknown, the pain of guilt, and confronting the darkest parts of our past. The Coast Salish legend of the Thunderbird is an integral part of the story that also deals with racial tensions in a small fishing town on the Pacific Northwest and the search for a missing family member. Constructed against the rugged beauty and danger of this Pacific Northwest, this film takes a deep and dark descent into the desperation of the search.

Will Brook (Colten Wilke) is overcome with guilt when he finds out that his sister has gone missing. Haunted by a recurring nightmare, he leaves the fishing boat he calls home and heads to town to find her.  But, his family’s murky history with the First Nations locals puts his life in jeopardy. Newly reinstated detective Ivy Seymour (Natalie Brown) is sent from the city to work on a homicide case as the number of missing women in the area is growing at an alarming rate.  When the body turns out to be Sarah’s roommate, Ivy and Will’s paths cross and together they follow clues to catch a killer.  Desperate to find Sarah before it’s too late, Will must confront his family’s troubled past and face his demons … no matter how real they may seem.

Thunderbird is based on a story that Colten Wilke first penned when fishing on the commercial fishing boat Ocean Twilight. Producers are grateful for the collaboration and partnership from the communities that contributed to filming a number of the locations used in Thunderbird. All of the halibut fishing in the opening scene is real and was done from the long-line fishing vessel Ocean Twilight. The scenes of William with Chief George (Julian Black Antelope) were all shot in a Kwakiutl big house in Port Hardy, British Columbia, and the extras in attendance were all active members of the local First Nations community. The Hamatsa masks worn by the dancers in the big house are extremely sacred family masks considered hereditary property and are believed to transform the wearers once they are donned.

Director Nicolas Treeshin’s Statement: Thunderbird is a story about the search for a missing girl, but beneath the surface, it’s more importantly about the fear of the unknown, the pain of guilt, and confronting the darkest parts of our past. The main character Will Brook is haunted by the circumstances surrounding his parents’ death and to move forward emotionally he must face his demons…figuratively and literally. The film also deals with racial tensions in a small fishing town on the Pacific Northwest, and because the Coast Salish legend of the Thunderbird was so integral to our story, it was of utmost importance for us to represent the culture of the First Nations peoples accurately. Latash-Maurice Nahanee, an Elder from the Squamish Nation, and Chief David Knox (great-grandson to world-renowned artist Mungo Martin) from the Kwakiutl First Nations were our cultural guides during production. Our team strived to produce a film that has a lasting impact on its audience. Every frame of Thunderbird was constructed to enhance Will’s emotional journey as he searches for his sister. Thunderbird is ultimately about facing your fears…even when they’re capable of eating you whole.

The cast, director and producers are available for interviews, photos and information.

Film Feature Paradise City with Bruce Willis and John Travolta

Canadian Producer/Actor/Director/Screenwriter Corey Large attracts Hollywood A-list actors uniting Bruce Willis and John Travolta together in the action-packed feature film “Paradise City” now filming in Maui.

Canadian Corey Large of 308 Enterprises is a producer, screenwriter, director and actor. With over ten productions underway in the past two years he hasn’t let the Covid pandemic slow him down.  His enthusiasm and love of the industry makes him one of the most prolific Canadians in the entertainment industry. Corey’s company has found a productive niche in genre titles with A-list names with films that do well on streaming and transactional platforms worldwide.

Production is underway in Maui for the action-packed movie “Paradise City” reuniting Bruce Willis and John Travolta alongside each other for the first time in 27 years. This is the fifth time the two have starred in together; the last movie was “Pulp Fiction.” In “Paradise City” Willis plays renegade bounty hunter Ian Swan, who must survive his way through the Hawaiian crime world to seek revenge on the kingpin, played by Travolta, who killed his father. Corey is a co-writer, producer and acts in the feature film. He has been looking to reteam the pair since 2006. Actress Praya Lundberg (Strange Girl in a Strange Land) is the lead female role with Stephen Dorff (True Detective) and Blake Jenner (Glee) rounding out the cast. Chuck Russell (The Mask) directs.

Other action films including “White Elephant”, “Cosmic Sin”, “Apex”, and “American Siege” are Bruce Willis starring vehicles with Large producing and acting.

Growing up in Victoria, Corey moved to Vancouver when he realized early in his career to take matters into his own hands by not waiting around to be cast in other people’s films.  With fifty-nine producer credits on IMDB, he made the right decision.

Garnering press coverage worldwide Corey is eager to share his story with Canadians. He recently filmed ‘Broil” in Vancouver and “Apex” in Victoria late last year. In normal times he splits his time between Victoria, Vancouver and Los Angeles. Corey is available for interviews upon request.
