2012 Actor/dancer/choreographer Heather-Claire Nortey is an all-around top-level performer with her star on the rise. She has been acting in stage and film for years, and is now making an impression on the small screen with a number of recent and upcoming projects to note.
Up next for Heather-Claire is the television film “Abducted: The Carlina White Story”. The film stars Keke Palmer as Carlina White and Sherri Shepherd as Joy White, a mother whose baby girl (Carlina) is abducted during a trip to the hospital. Heather-Claire stars as the young version of Shepherd’s character—portraying Joy while she is a teenaged mother raising her baby in Harlem and after the tragedy of the abduction. The story follows Carlina’s abduction, which leads to her being raised by the woman who took her. Eventually, she discovers she is a missing child and reconnects with her birth parents. This leads to the struggle of choosing between her two identities. The film is set to air on Lifetime Network on October 6th 2012.
The talented performer had her first experience in front of an audience when she began dancing about 20 years ago. It was there that she discovered her love for telling stories and playing characters, which led to her evolution into acting. Heather-Claire’s film credits include a principal role in “The Hunt for the I-5 Killer” (Lifetime Network) and a guest starring role in “The Haunting Hour: Stage Fright” (The Hub Network). She recently had a supporting role in “The Pregnancy Project” (Lifetime Network). On stage, Heather-Claire has appeared in “Restoration” (Unicorn Theatre) and “The Man from the Capital” (The Great Canadian Theatre Company). She was also the on-air Caribbean News Reporter for the Ottawa radio program “Reggae in the Fields” (CKCU Ottawa).
After completing her Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree with Specialization in Theatre from the University of Ottawa, Heather-Claire devoted herself to more focused training in film and television, studying with Megan Follows (“Anne of Green Gables”) and esteemed Canadian and American Casting Directors. After one year, Heather-Claire moved to Vancouver, BC where she completed the full- time Dramatic Arts Program at the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts (VADA). She currently continues to hone her craft with classes, including studying with Canadian actor/renowned acting instructor, Ben Ratner.
Heather-Claire strives to inspire others through her acting. She is also passionate about dance and choreography and hopes some of her future projects can incorporate all of her passions together.
